Coming soon - I heard the Hays cam may be up so am getting this up quick.

Note: We're going to make this a combined thread for two nests in Western Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Hays nest that we've been watching for several years, and the new Harmar nest, hosted and sponsored by many of the same groups. As you post observations, please note if they're for Hays or Harmar - thanks! Info on Harmar is in the second post.

Pittsburgh Hays, PA - 2017 - Bald Eagle Cam

Thanks to PattiO from the Window-on-Wildlife Forum for introducing me to this nest, which has the first webcam ever set up on a Bald Eagle nest in Pennsylvania, and researching the information about the area.

Hays is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, and lies southeast of the center of Pittsburgh along the Monongahela River. The nest is on a steep, wooded hillside overlooking the river. The pair reared one young chick in 2013, which was the first successful eagle nesting in the city in more than 200 years, according to game commission officials. The pair successfully raised three chicks (H2, H3 and H4) in 2014. They laid two eggs in 2015 and neither hatched, perhaps because of the very cold weather shortly after the eggs were laid. Look for eggs in middle to late February.

Harmar, Pennsylvania - 2017 - Bald Eagle Cam

Link to cam - http://eagles.aswp.org/ (there's a chat on the right that covers both Pittsburgh Hays

Like the Pittsburgh Hays cam, this cam located north of Pittsburgh is a project of the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania in conjunction with PixController and a number of local sponsors. 2016 was the first year for this cam, and I haven't found much in the way of history, beyond the fact that the pair has fledged one chick.

On the map below, the green marker on the left is Harmar, right above the brown marker for Pittsburgh Hays; Hanover is the red marker on the right.
