Thank you to Xcel Energy and Raptor Resource Project for all you do for this nest. Fort St. Vrain is a Colorado nest. It is near Platteville, Colorado on private property near the Xcel generation station.

This nest has been viewed since 2006. November 14, 2016 update on the nest camera from Raptor Resource Project. We installed a new HD camera with the help of our Xcel partners. The Camera is an IR vision
bullet camera with variable zoom and microphone. It should provide improved video quality of the eagles and audio than what we have had in the past. The system is very high-tech with solar panel power and radios
to transmit video and audio back to the Xcel facility.

Mom and Dad Fort St. Vrain do not really migrate but they move around the area during the summer, but also visit the nest area. They usually begin nestorations in early October. Eggs are laid in mid February.
Eaglets hatch in March and the eaglets have fledged in early June. Both eagles have been banded. Mom has 2 bands and Dad has one. He may have a orange-ish yellow, maybe faded tag on his right leg.
With the new cam we may be able to get a better look at the bands. The top view we have been seeing the last few years has not afforded us a very good view of the bands. Mom has a deep inverted v on the front
neckline. Dad's is more of a rectangle in shape but also can appear to be even along the front of the neckline.

Raptor Resource Project has announced that their crew has been working with Xcel on the improvements of the equipment at this site as well as replacing the cams. We look forward to excellent viewing this season.
Thank you to Xcel and Raptor Resource Project for the time and effort involved in making these improvements. There is no announcement of when the cams will be streaming live at this time.

Yeah. So happy to hear about the cam improvements. Can't say i am looking forward to a new season but I really love this pair and love the local sounds of nature so I will be watching for the cams to come on line.

It is a beautiful fall day here with sunshine and blue sky. The temperature is 69 degrees. Overnight it dipped into the upper 40's.

The cam is streaming live today. This is called the top view and it is the only view listed on the web page. At this time I am not getting sound. This might change.
