Welcome to the Royal Roads University Eagles thread for the 2016/2017 season. This nest is on the property of Royal Roads University in Colwood BC. These eagles have produced many eaglets over the years, but sadly did not produce any this past season. Info and photos of these eagles can be found on the previous years' thread here. Please feel welcome to post your observations, photos and videos of these eagles when you visit their nest area.

I was at Esquimalt Lagoon on Dec. 5th and saw one of the eagles flying overhead. It landed in a tall tree on the other side of the lagoon and sat there for a long time.

Haven't been around for a few years, but was at Esquimalt Lagoon Jan 2nd and got a few pics of the Royal Roads pair.

I was at Esquimalt Lagoon today and took a few photos of the Royal Roads nest tree from the bridge end of the lagoon. I had to zoom in on the photos to see one of the eagles in the nest and the other eagle perched at the end of a branch in the tree next to the nest. I'll post some photos tomorrow.

We walked around Royal Roads property and Esquimalt Lagoon a month ago and saw 2 adult bald eagles flying past several times. They do not appear to be nesting.

I went to check the nest today and there were no eagles around. Awhile later I saw both eagles flying around the lagoon, being chased by the seagulls. They were flying back and forth, to the nest and to the trees near Fort Rodd Hill. One of the eagles flew down over the ocean side of Lagoon Rd. and caught a duck. It flew to a tree near the end of the bridge, sat for awhile then flew over the lagoon again. I'll post some photos tomorrow.
