This may be of interest to David and Christian—I just found this video of a nest with two eaglets and a very young hawklet! This was taken 4 years ago! Miles Brown discovered it while taking the eaglets for banding. I guess it's not as rare as it might seem!

Unfortunately, he did not follow up. No word of what happened to the hawklet.

Thanks to everyone who left nice comments about my photos & videos. I am very happy that so many of you are enjoying this amazing story and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the little hawk will have a successful fledge and will survive in the wild fingers crossed I have photos and videos from my visit yesterday that I will post soon.

Thank you NestFriend for the link to that video. It is my opinion that this has happened many times in the past; it just hasn't been documented.

Thanks, Mimi, for posting that video. I have sent it to David Hancock for his records. This makes the 4th incidence of which we are aware of a hawklet being raised in a bald eagle's nest.

Lynda - I deleted the post that said it was Darlene but it was not. As the mod on this thread you should have been able to remove it but we all know the forum software does not always operate properly.
