I just read David's update on the home page. A thoroughly informative and expertly written article Clapping Thank you so much for taking the time to explain everything David, and to tell us your thoughts on how the little hawk chick ended up in the eagle's nest. It truly is an amazing story and I hope the little hawk chick continues to do well with it's adoptive family and fledges successfully Nodding yes I will be posting some of my photos soon.

The 1st photo was taken at 12:47 pm. The eaglets were active at that time but the little hawk chick was down on the left side of the nest.

The rest of my photos were all taken between 2:55 and 3:00 pm. I was stopping the recording every 5-6 mins. and taking some stills. However, while I was recording the last video which I have already posted a link to on YouTube, I didn't want to stop it because there was so much action happening in the nest.

Hawk chick has wandered over to the right side of the nest, looking around.

A big wing flap by the eaglet on the front of the nest. I was worried that a big wing would knock the hawk chick of the nest.

The hawk chick wandered back to the other side of the nest. The bigger eaglet was lying in the nest with its head on the left side. It would look up once in awhile but didn't get up.

Eaglet on right was looking up at the crows that were harassing the adult perched at the top of a nearby tree while the hawk chick was preening.

Last 3 photos.

The hawk chick and eaglet were watching the crows swooping above.

Back to preening.

Eaglet in front was watching the crows, eaglet on right preening and hawk chick was chirping. I think it was hungry.

Thank you for posting updates Smile

I was worried because I saw a video where lil Hawklet looked as if he had missing feathers on his chest.
According to your scap here, it's only different colour feathers, I guess.

Thank you David Hancock, this situation is so unique. I feel that we may well be watching an evolutionary leap and wonder how many other changes in nature are happening right before our eyes. I wonder about the the land mass changing due to water levels raising, how nature must adapt to those changes. It's an extensive conversation but the fact remains that this eagle family is continuing to raise this hawklet, and we are so fortunate to witness such an event.
