WELCOME TO THE 2016 SEASON!

BROWNING RD NEST

This is a new nest in the area Heatherj, one of our HWF members, asked me to help her set up this thread.
The following is Heatherj's report.

The nest is registered with the Wildlife Tree Stewardship Program ref no BAEA-205-004

The Browning Rd nest has been occupied for at least 26 years. No detailed records are currently available but many eagles have fledged from this nest over the years. It is in a Douglas Fir on private property but is visible from the beach. In the summer of 2015 the nest collapsed before the eaglet had fledged. However the eaglet was seen in the area after the collapse so hopefully it survived. The eagles rebuilt the nest for the 2016 season and they currently have 1 eaglet. The nest is registered with the Wildlife Tree Stewardship Program.

Welcome to this thread. If you visit the Browning Rd nest in Wilson Creek you are welcome to post your comments and pictures here.

Heatherj has a few pictures to post to the thread, when I receive them I'll post a few in the opening thread. I am excited to see them as I have not visited this nest yet.

Added: I'm happy to say that we had:

2016 ...... 2 eaglets Big Browning & Little Browning

Here are two pictures that Heatherj sent at the start of the season.

Thank you so much Marg for setting up this forum.

Here is a sequence of pics I took one morning in early June this year (3 June) of a fish delivery at the nest. The first is Dad (I think!) delivering the fish. In the second one it looks as though Mom is deciding if its a keeper. And then in the third she's decided its acceptable and the eaglet is tucking into a fish breakfast. Dad didn't hang around too long and was very quickly off again looking for more fish

And here's one from June 17 with the eaglet looking quite a bit bigger even though its just a couple of weeks since the previous set of photos.

How wonderful to have yet another Sunshine Coast eagle nest thread! Welcome Heather, and thank you for sharing your nest with us. This calls for a trip down to Browning Rd. to look for the nest and eaglet! It looks like a good one to observe.

Thank you for your kind welcome Marg and stim !

If you want to see the nest yourselves just find the Paul Beach entrance about half way along Browning and follow the trail to the beach. Its a little rocky in places but not too bad. Turn right at the end of the trail and you should be able to see the nest from the rocks without going down onto the pebble beach.

Welcome to HWF Discussion Forum, HeatherJ. I love your pictures, especially the one with both Ma and Pa atop the snag. Sorry we didn't get to meet you when we were there for the HWF Lunch Bunch on June 13th that Marg organized for us.
