I was wondering about that too, Lonette. It really doesn't look like a piece of shell, and there was no trace of it in the next refreshes, though she was rustling around underneath herself in the previous refresh.

Her feathers were blowing around a bit a few refreshes later:

but I'm having a hard time figuring what angle her head could be to do that.

I'd really like to get a peek underneath....

It very well could have been her feathers blowing around. The cam has been experiencing some technical difficulties over the last several minutes. I do believe she is hearing something because she has really been interested in what's going on underneath her this afternoon. Lots of checking!!

Both adults on the nest, and I'm pretty sure there was a switch - but the crafty pair traded places between refreshes, so we didn't see if anything was happening. From the angle, I'm not sure if the new adult has nestled in yet - so maybe we'll get a peek.

The second adult was back - with a small fish!

I think they're expecting a small hungry addition to their family!

The father eagle brought in a fish on Thursday evening, and in past seasons that action often meant a chick was coming.
