From the cam page ~~

In partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, CarbonTV brings you 24/7 live streaming of this majestic creature in it’s native habitat. Join a pair of eagles in their nest 100 feet above ground as they battle the odds and elements to survive.

The CarbonTV Eagle Cam is located near the Platte River State Fish Hatchery, which was established in 1928 as a satellite rearing station and converted to the state's main salmon hatchery in 1972. This facility raises coho and chinook salmon and is the main egg take station for coho salmon in the Upper Great Lakes.

Beulah, Michigan was founded about 1880 by Reverend Charles E. Bailey and named by him after a place described in the Bible. The village of Beulah is located in Benzie County, in the Traverse City metro area. Beulah is the county seat and as of 2010 there were 262 permanent residents of the village of Beulah. This is a summer resident and tourist area located on the shores of Crystal Lake very near Lake Michigan.

The Platte River State Fish Hatchery --

Click on image to download - the salmon hatchery

“This is the birthplace of Michigan salmon, the only coho salmon facility that is in Michigan.

The Platte River State Fish Hatchery was established in 1928 as a satellite rearing station and converted to the state's main salmon hatchery in 1972. This facility raises coho and chinook salmon and is the main egg take station for coho salmon in the Upper Great Lakes. The interpretative facilities provide information on the importance of medium sized rivers to the Great Lakes, the salmon story, how watersheds work and how a hatchery operates. The new interpretative facilities and trails, the new hatchery complex, lower weir harvest facility and the upper weir egg-take station are all of interest The best times to see returning adult salmon in the Platte River are from mid September to late October at the lower weir and late September to mid October at the upper weir located at the hatchery. The public is welcome to watch the egg take operations. Egg take operations generally happen the third week of October.
