This picture shows how the eaglets spent much of their morning.


Since 10:15 one eagle or both have visited the nest. Several times both parents have been on the nest. I have seen 2 feedings.



This little really likes this place along the fence.

Good Morning to all ST Vrain eagle watchers. mid 40's overnight and mid 60's with rain possible in the afternoon.

5:50 Eaglets in the nest bowl alone on the nest.
5:56 One eaglet is up and then down and then the other is up and at 6:02 both are snuggled together again.
They are snuggled together, looking up and down every once in a while until 7:56 when a parent comes in at 3.
7:58 KC and Banner quickly move to 12 where the parent is.
8:02 - 8:08ish they are fed.
8:24 they are now cuddled at 11. It is cloudy.

Just watched 30 minutes and was able to see so much.

8:51 both parents at 9 with a fresh kill (may be a prairie dog or other furry animal). Both eaglets are at 12 napping. One moves to the center of the nest. The parents are still at 9. Ma has her foot on the kill. Then she turns to fly off the nest at 3 and since one eaglet has moved there she almost steps on it......then the eaglet settles in the nest bowl and watches Pa. Pa begins to eat. Eaglet is settled and watching from the nest bowl.
9:01 The eaglet from nest bowl moves closer to 9 and Pa begins to feed it.
9:03 The other eaglet notices and gets up, stretches its wings and moves to 9. It seems to walk not hop flop this time.....moved easily and quickly this way.
9:21 feeding ends. Pa has had them lined up and feeds them in turn. They just sit and then they begin to pick at the droppings in the bedding as Pa watches toward 6. They continue to pick at the droppings. Then the eaglet that came over later begins to beak the food and Pa offers it more to eat, but now they are not as interested. Pa continues to stand at 9.

They are 28 and 27 days old now and there are so many changes......they spend time alone on the nest, they move more by walking than hop flopping, they have darker down and new feathers are beginning to show, they are picking up food droppings on their own and have begun to beak the food in front of them.
A wonder to watch nature in progress.

Terrific "stuff", Donna!! I'm so glad that the outcome for this nest was SOOOO much better than last year!! These 'lets are growing before our eyes. :blink:

Mary and Maryann11 so happy you stopped by to see the eaglets. They are getting big and they are having dinner right now 6:04. It is darker at the nest and it could be raining as we are having showers in this part of Colorado. Wonder if the parent will cover the eaglets if it rains tonight.

April showers bring May flowers and this nest is in for 3 days of April showers. It rained overnight. Ma was at the nest early as she was on the fence at 6 at 5:53. mid 40's overnight and high 50's during the day.



The eaglets were curled up and not responding to Ma's presence. She left and returned at 6:25 at 9 with a fish. The eaglets did not stir until 6:28 when the one in the nest bowl got up, stretched its wings and moved over to be fed. The feeding lasted until 6:36. Only one eaglet came for food.



The eaglet went to the center of the nest and Ma came too. Then Ma started to push the bedding up around the eaglet. The eaglet stirred and was up and down but finally settled and Ma pushed more bedding up around it. It was so nurturing and protective......I was pretty amazed to see this interaction though I have seen other eagles push bedding over or around other eaglets.....because it is a wet morning it just seemed so protective.

The other eaglet never came out to eat. It just stayed snuggled. It was up and stretching at 6:23.
