Judy those two hours that you and Bev have are an advantage. I remember when sleeping in was 10 or 11 a.m. and now it is 8! but it felt good.....

9:02 the snow is already melting and the eagle has the eaglets tucked in. Looks like plenty of food at 3.

I am going to voice a concern......I have thought on other occasions that the smaller eaglet is not getting much to eat and gives up.....so I watched this last feeding from 9:20 to 9:34 or so. The smaller eaglet got 1/4 of what the older one was fed. The older eaglet even moved from the 12 position around the smaller to 6 and continued to feed from there. Banner seems to be ok....active and alert, but it is hard to watch. I know that this is common in eagledom but it is hard to watch. Until recently I felt that they were fed equally. We might just watch the feedings when we can to observe this and keep an eye on the smaller eaglet. Hope it is quick to grab like Tink was.

Thanks for mentioning that, Donna - I'll also try to keep an eye on the situation.

There will be feedings where one or the other gets more - but it should average out over time when all's going well.

12:04 pm
There's a feeding and only one is being fed - and I think it's Banner
The other is lying in the sun and watching, but hasn't approached

12:05 pm
Other one is up, does a poop shot (I think) and wandered over;
The one on the left/nearer cam (I think KC) is getting an occasional bite, but the one right next to the adult is getting more

Perspective does sometimes make it hard to tell who is who - the closer one seems bigger and slightly more developed

12:09 pm
Feeding continues, with most bites still going to the eaglet right beside the adult

12:12 pm
Banner(?) has turned away, and the adult is concentrating on the other chick

Not sure of amounts involved, but I think both are getting a good feeding this time.

I have some more pics of the first one being fed, but most are in bright sunlight so it's hard to make out details. A cloud went over after the feeding switched to the second chick, making it easier to see them.

Judy,

I watched that feeding time also and I feel better as both were well fed. I also think it was Banner being fed first and then KC was fed. Good to see such a long feeding and such attention to both eaglets......great pics.

So glad you were watching, Donna, as I wasn't that sure of my identification. KC did look larger and taller as she moved over - but I know how tricky perspective is on a lot of these cameras. Smile

2:26 after some roaming around at 9 and 6 KC and Banner are resting snuggled together on the front porch. The adult is settled at 10/11. It is about 48 degrees. It is sunny then cloudy, but little wind.Click on image to download
