I have not seen Ma since 1 mdt. They usually share the afternoon duty. He has been great about feeding the littles. Have to get dinner but will try to watch for her to return. Hopefully she will have more food.

I agree the little ones have been in the open alot from 2 to 4:15. It is about 56 degrees, but that seems like alot to me.....

Judy and Cal it is great to have your input.....

Thanks for the reports, golden and CAL - must admit I wasn't paying a lot of attention to which parent was there, though I did think I saw both of them around 1-1:30 pm.

It does surprise me sometimes to see little chicks out in the open - and a number of us got quite panicked about the Blackwater chicks a year or two ago - but they were fine. Almost always, the adults do know what they're doing. But it sure isn't always obvious to us non-eagles! :dunno:

I had a lot of pics from today so I did a slideshow. I'm afraid there are some duplicates - but they are very cute little chicks, so I hope you don't mind. love

Added:
When I went to post my slideshow on the Maine forum, I found that PeggyJean has a video - it is more effective to watch the little one scooting around - so here it is (warning - there's a sound track - goes very well with the action, but can be embarrassing if it comes on while you're supposed to be working! Roll eyes)

Thank you so much, JudyB, for making "You're going where?". A perfect joy to watch. Grin

This Little One does not know that she cannot fly yet. Her parents seem to know just what to expect from her. Amazing.

Enjoyed Peggy Jean's video very much too.

March 30, 2010 low 40's overnight and low to mid 70's by afternoon.

6:22 eagle facing 5.
6:46 eagle continues to incubate, no switches, no feeding yet.
6:48 incoming at 8. has food and the littles are up and watching.
6:54 move fish to 12 and both eat.
6:56 short feeding for KC and B
7:00both eagles on the nest. 7:02 Ma is incubating facing 2
7:21 Ma has shifted to 10 and is pulling bedding to the nest in a nest.

Those videos were so interesting and that little KC is already into trouble....but I also think KC wanted to be near the adult after the adult was away so long....determined little rascal. Peggy Jean's music sure fit the event. It will be warmer today than yesterday. Thursday it could rain most of the day and be cooler.

Hi Cal wave

The littles have been fed but not for as long or given as much as in the first few days. At 9:00 the eagle fed them 4 bites and then snuggled them under. The eagles have switched and there is still a big fish at 2.
Littles may have had plenty yesterday.... and have full crops..something I was not be able to observe.....will watch for feedings as it gets warmer at the nest.

Off to the store and then I will watch some....will miss these littles when I am gone the next 3 days....

From 10:04 to 10:12 there was a longer feeding.

The littles have been tucked under the adult most of the morning. A little after 11 they began to be out from under. The adult is standing at 9 and the eaglets have been popping up and down or resting.....

It is about 70 now and a little windy.
