If I am not on this site in the morning it means that our power went out. The wind is blowing in shifting directions and we just got 2 inches of snow in an hour. It is nasty out. Here is a pic from the ST. Vrain cam

Donna, Cal, Bev and All.....

I will be thinking about these eagles as this storm unfolds, for their protection and that of their eggs. With warmer weather coming it will be a good sign.

The information presented here is fascinating, Donna. Will check back tomorrow.

Donna wave and all our friends here....so sorry to hear about the lousy weather. Mom and Dad are very strong so talons crossed they weather the storm nicely and that if a lett has hatched that is snuggly warm under the safety of Mom's coat feathers Smile Will check back tomorrow and pray sunshine is on the way and that ole man weather is wrong for the week-end! Thanks for the great scaps and observations too Left thumb up

Thank you for the update, Donna - I also wish the weather was better, but it does sound as if they're getting prepared for it. And as it seems to be not unusual weather in the area, they probably know how to handle it.

As a reminder, an eaglet can easily go a day or more without eating - they absorb the nutrients from the yolk of the egg as part of the hatching process. I'm thinking it was 2-1/2 days before the now very competent pair at the Santa Cruz/Pelican Harbor nest figured out how to feed their first chick - and she did fine.

Stay warm and safe, Donna - my thoughts are with you and the eagles and everyone affected by the storm. love

You are more than welcome CAL04.......This is an incredibly photogenic nest, always reminding me of a pastoral scene in a painting. I thought I saw a Pip too when I looked back at that screencap, but I am certainly not sure.
Catch you tomorrow......
