March 21, 2010 Low 30's overnight and afternoon temps into the low 50's.

early morning switch at 6:40 or so...

It is a sunglasses day for sure. The snow has mostly melted off the hillside and the nest is clear. This has been a peaceful day so far. I have not had a clear view of the eggs personally or in the stills. The eagles were both on the nest for about 20 min just before 9 mdt. Pa has spent much of the time on the nest this morning...


Quiet read the Sunday paper kind of day here so far....no distractions or interruptions....

It is a nice warm day here and the temps are edging to 60. I did find 2 stills that show the egg roll or a switch. I have been over to the WVa site hoping to catch a view of the hatchling when it is finally eggshell free.




and SOON, a day or three, we will have an eaglet here ....hoping, hoping , hoping....

Today at about 3:30 mountain time an eaglet was hatched in Shepherdstown, W Va. Welcome little one.......

another peaceful day at Fort St. Vrain. It was a beautiful sunshine, blue sky day. Tomorrow will again be warm. There may be 2 or 3 inches of snow on Wednesday evening....hope not....but....they did ok with 8inches so they will manage.





I have been missing the egg rolls and switches by 5 or 10 min all day.....I would watch and then the phone would ring or I got lunch and missed it every time.....will have to figure out their timing better with the hatchings coming up this week.... all not long and we will have 2 little ones here too.....

March 22, 2010 Early morning temps in the high 30's and the afternoon temps will be in the mid 60's.

My times are mdt the stills are mst.
6:38 Dawn breaking and Pa is facing 5.
6:42 Eagle is preening as it incubates.
6:49 quietly incubating
6:53 eagle is looking up and calling. Gets up, moves to the fence at 9 and wingersizes to stretch. Stands at 9 and flies off
6:55 Ma comes in at 6, goes to egg cup, settles facing 10. Moves bedding closer. Up, repositions and resettles. continues to move bedding around her.

A good look at the eggs at 5:54 mst.

8:00 sun is now on the nest.
8:03 eagle up and moves to the fence. It begins to call loudly and flies off at 3.
8:04 Incoming eagle at 9 moves to egg cup, rolls eggs, digs in the egg cup a bit
8:06 settles facing 12. Moves bedding closer
8:08 up again, checking cup, resettles facing 3.
8:13 calm and sunny
8:37 to 8:39 both eagle on the nest. Pics at bottom of this post.
8:41 eagle facing 9 seems settled and moving bedding closer.
9:14 still calm and sunny.

11:38 eagle facing 9. All is calm and sunny, too.
12:29 the eagle remains facing 9 and incubating. No changes.
12:42 eagle is up and moves over to the fence. Goes back to the egg cup and rolls the eggs. Settles, but gets right up again and is head down in the egg cup. settles facing 8. The eagle begins to move the bedding about. All is calm and the last switch was at 10:48.




I am off for a bit but things seem very peaceful.
