Oh Carolyn you are so clever with words. I didn't need to see the nest to visualize what your poem meant. Very beautifully put!
Thank you Carole.....give Kokomo a hug for me.

Pray Tell - dedicated to White Rock
Eagle flew in with prey yesterday, bold as an eagle can be.
Pray tell, what is this prey that resides by the Bay,
nestling with eagles so high in the sky, while the world travels by,
it isn't the normal prey, so pray tell.
Squirrel like it appear, but at its rear,
there hangs a little white tag,
hmm, squirrels don't have little tags on their end,
so this is a stuffy, not fluffy, not prey like, but fun.
Pray tell Dad, what did you bring in, said the eaglets
so wondrously as it sat on the nest, with the fish as a pillow,
beneath and near the weeping willows looking down on the Bay.
But Dad with no sense of smell did not know, so we had to show.
Stuffy is a lovely, not a yummy to stuff their tummies,
it nestles so carefully on the nest,
a giggle here, a giggle there, it is a stuffed toy.
Oh my........and oh boy!

Shadows through the leaves, flickering as they go,
the birds flicker by wondering at the shadows dark, yet golden glow.
A long time ago big hair was in and as time passes, it becomes a memory sweet,
unless of course the sun causes magic to remember the moment as a treat.
Time is elusive and so are our dreams; time is a moment gone, then
a moment new, then a moment shining in the golden glow of a child's face.
We see the magic of our universe, the birds sing along, and we know truly
we are a part of that song if we believe.
So let's open our eyes beyond the eclipse, see the magic created,
in a moment of bliss. Whether we travel to Zion or in our backyard,
magic exists not far beyond the pinpoint in the jar. Even then fireflies,
elusive as can be, bring wonder upon wonder to you and me.

Washing the dishes is hardly a chore, yet.......
Washing the cat can be so insecure.
She moves while she wiggles, she tries to get away,
hoping in her heart for a much better day.
It was not intended, it was just on a whim,
she got washed in the sink nice and deep with a rim.
She fought like a banshee, she wiggled and squirmed,
but in the end she was clean and not even forlorn.
She is fluffy and beautiful, right on the spot,
having forgiven her owner for such evil thoughts,
to put her in a sink where the dishes should be,
yet now she is cuddling as sweet as sweet can be.

That's wonderful, Carolyn! Fortunately our cats rarely need to be washed - and one actually enjoys having her face washed with her own little washcloth - but I can certainly relate!

Thanks Judy.....this was a "necessary" wash or it would never have happened. I meant to just wash her a tad, but she kept moving! I am glad cat washes are not needed almost ever.

A robin came to my front door to beckon us Good Day,
He bowed his beak picking up a seed left by the wild rain storm.
He seemed to say as he went "it's a new clean well washed day",
"could you join me in my celebration?"
To wit, he got a standing ovation.

Ralph and the China Cabinet
Way up high in the china cabinet sit the glasses silent and serene,
immersed in their middle is a white cat so quiet and clean.
You do not dare move a muscle for fear he will move and fall,
after which the aftermath will be bedlam, cat, glass and all.
Quietly you walk into the room, quietly you view,
you wonder what you should and should not do.
Ralph sits up watching in an Oriental way, knowing he is
top cat nestled in the glasses, breakables and bits.
You laugh, you giggle turning to leave the room,
hoping not to hear following you a loud boom.
But no, just a leap, Ralph emerges unscathed.
The glasses are quiet and pristine as ever none the same.
