We went to the zoo, zoo, zoo,
wish you could have come too, too, too,
it was joyous throughout the zoo
we went to the zoo.
We saw baby Meerkats, two litters, an unusual sight,
for usually the dominant female will not allow another litter,
but somehow our Zoo figured out a way and the babies were
ALL playing away hooray!
We saw a baby elephant, with its small trunk, carefully enclosed
inside for protection as it is only 4 months old.
The mama was proud as an elephant can be, and happy to
share her young one with thee!
We saw 7 giraffes, some young and some older, with
beautiful long necks, wondrous to beholder!
Grandson went gaga looking at them for they are not the
same as a book giraffe would be, you see!
The lions made him smile especially the male,
with all of its hair around the large head,
grandson said "roar" when he saw them sleeping,
but looked on in wonder at the lions triumphant.
I think his and my favorite is the ocelot and there was two
yes, two, playing in their cage, and sleeping up high,
they are protected in the Zoo and all go, oh my!
What a gorgeous animal, let's keep it safe......
The ducks had ducklings and a turtle was following
but the ducklings got away, thankfully, and the turtle went off for easier prey.
The ducks go "quack" but the little ones go "cheep" and
grandson loved to watch them swimming at his feet.
We rode the Zoo train all over the large park,
waving at people who were out and about on such a beautiful Sunday,
to be followed by Monday, a holiday, oh yeah, hooray!
Cheers to all y'all, from Texas......

Kaboom, raindrops, startle us,
Call for rescue home.

The Tropical Storm came in almost unannounced,
diminished by fears of Hurricane Earl, way up north,
it sneaked into Texas quietly with hard rain and winds,
moving quickly up the coast and inland.
We got hit unexpectedly, with heavy rain and winds,
streets were flooded and visibility was gone,
and often you wondered would it continue to go on.
There were quiet moments, lulls, which confused you.
Then suddenly again, torrential rain and flooding around,
hopefully you were not outside walking about,
for such moments are not perfect for a quiet walk,
with trees moving and storm brewing ready to sprout.
In Texas such weather is common indeed,
if you don't like the weather they say "wait 5 minutes",
true thoughts proved over time, as temperatures can
rise or plummet in an instant, leaving what was distant.

A Tribute to Sarah Bear
Sarah was a young bear, only a yearling
and from what I heard a genuine trusting young one.
She made the researchers smile with her carefree ways,
so that they enjoyed all of her days.
A child of Braveheart she was carving her territory with his,
which was a grand experiment for all of them within the project,
so far nothing like it had happened and they were excited to see,
what the end result would be.
There is a neat picture of her on the scale, checking her weight
to make sure she is growing and becoming a great bear with the food that was there.
The berries, ants and all that she ate, were enough
to make her pretty neat and sweet.
Her life was cut short by a careless hunter,
who did not respect the request to hold fire on these special bears.
His justice will come as all justice does for those who do not revere
the call of nature and request of friends.
Her spirit is flying and she is eating berries so we
have no choice but to remain merry, but
vigilant for the other bears from thoughtless folks,
who think killing bears is only a joke.
Life is to be respected, it is a wonder you see,
we all are on this ball in the sky floating free you and me,
and if we do not help each other, what will transpire,
it's scary to me and I bet y'all agree.
