OMG!!! the Pictures are just SO amazing. It would not be a FF were it not for the generous time and talent of all of our Photographers!
One of the disadvantages of organizing is that all I end up 'seeing' are the things that go/could go wrong. The nest site itself is very uneven ground and I am NOT comfortable walking/standing there at all. Alan and I were off to the hall after we'd been there about 10-15 minutes. To see the pictures of the group there, inteacting, looking, pointing and sharing the day together -- that is what takes me 'out' of organizer mode and reasures me that FledgeFest was al it was supposed to be.
At the hall Alan and I had the chance to think about the space and how to set things up properly this year. Last year we were all hesitant about moving things and whatnot, I think because we (or I anyway) thpught there wold be a persone from the church there so we cold ask about what we could and could not do...
Anyway... The pictures tell the story. Far better than last year with everyone in a huge circle around the room!!
I even had the foresight to take care of one of my biggest pet-peeves with self-serve buffets. I hate having to juggle napkins and bits of plastic cutlery while getting food on to a plate. This time I just put cutlery at each place setting and left 2 piles of napkns on each table. Easy-peasy!!
Mel's quizz turned in to a VERY welcome diversion for everyone as we realized there we some issues with the food we'd had delivered. The order was to have been reduced for fewer people It didn't look like it to me. We had to call Safeway and it turned out the order hadn't been downsized and our $/person had to be rethought. While most were doing the quizz I was 'sweating bullets' at having to tell people about needing a bit more $ from them. Everyoine was very generous and understanding and it turned out 'fine'. Though I am now quite disenchanted with Safeway's dismissive attitude to our concern.
As lunch wound down we got an update from David concerning $$ and Cams. It is NOT going to be easy to do what needs to be done. (but that's not for this thread!)
Quietly, as Davids spoke, volunteers (Thank you Elaine and was that you Jammy?) for getting our tables cleared of used plates and cutlery -- Later I realized there we folks in the Kitchen washing our serving utensils and making sure the table got wiped done before they we put away. I'm quite sure I saw Laurie ( whales1) and Sharon(gemini) hard at work
AS we began to take leave of our friends, Doug kindly helped at getting our chairs all stacked up to be put away. I have a hunch he may have missed his 'intended' ferry by helping If so, Doug, extra thanks and sorry for any inconvenience my requst may have caused for you.
Everything was ship-shape by around 4oclock and we locked the door and made for the ferry. David's party and Sharon, Alan and I were all on the 5PM sailing and I know they had a jolly wonderful time on deck seeing the sights but I was happy to sit inside and watch them take pictures and stare out with their binoculars.
I knew things had gone well, but as I said at the start of this ramble Seeing the Pictures Makes it all feel so much more satisfying and 'Real' for me.
Thanks again everyone
I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made

Thanks for the great vid GF Elle and give Ian a squeeze for me too for it
Hey Marg how great to read you had yet another blast at Fledgefest! Thanks so much for sharing the pics you took! It was a great idea to shoot what's around there too.
Great vid and pics Harry, thanks so much for being there and getting so much
Thanks so much Marg for the ID's on the people in Barb's pics. That is funny isn't it? They're up their eyeballs in grass! Whatever it takes for the shot, boy don't I know it!
awww thanks for sharing your perspective as the 'doer' Terry and I'm so glad you felt satisfied at the end of the day. That's a lot of work and everything came out all right so you should be proud and everyone else that helped too!
Ohhh great idea Mary that running back and forth has got to go
I would rather spend my life close to the birds than wishing I had wings
