First and foremost it appears when i thought i knew a lot, after Jazzel's post to me regarding the situation at
Middle Cove,i obviously have a lot to
learn, with that Jazzel the post prior to this is of utmost importance and your expertise in answering those concern's
would be of great help to me,i
anxiously look forward to your input. On a second note i was pleased to see that they are now incubating at the
Middle Cove site,at 5 a.m this morn'in
i got to the site and was utterly pleased to see a osprey resting on the nest, whether this started on Saturday
or Sunday i will never know,
also! i have no idea at this present moment whether the resident male is the chosen mate or the intruder,i'll
have to do more observation's of
this site to clarify that.Jazzel thanks so much for your earlier post regarding this as it will allow me to assess
it more clearly.Have a great day
folk's.

GERARD, I'll answer your questions tonight, when I have some time.

The latest migration update from Rob....very interesting!!!

All the adults have been home for a while. Now we have our last bird moving. Buck, born in South Carolina back in '09 is back in the states. His movements are further confirmation that the young birds are an apparently never-ending source of surprises. It looks like he's going to take us on an interesting ride.

Another bit of exciting news is the recent sighting of a satellite tagged Osprey on Martha's Vineyard's south shore. It was on an nest pole (no nest) with another Osprey. It wasn't any of the birds we are currently following, so it has to be an old bird whose radio went dead. Our most likely candidate is Conomo, born in Lobsterville on the Vineyard back in '07. He came back in '09. We lost his signal over in CT sort of all of a sudden, with no further messages. We've got an APB out on him. If he starts showing up somewhere, we might be able to get a spotting scope on him and try to get a reading on his band.

Very exciting new's to hear Jazzel, wow!stuff like that is just so exhilarating. If it is a bird from 07 then
that would be just off the wall,
and would be Rob's and your team's first juvie to spend 18 months abroad, and more then likely is
a breeder now,and may have
been a breeder since 2010,you and your team will have to crack open a bottle of champagne if
it is conomo,Rob must be just
jumping out of his shoes at the news,i'll be eager to hear the update.

This is just excellent news,if it is conomo, that would mean that conomo is your first juvie for Rob,
you and your team that
has spent 18 months down south, migrated back in 2009,back south again, and woo hoo, possible
became a breeder in 2010,
now it's 2011.If it is conomo i congratulate you and your team,i will be anxiously awaiting the new's,
and if it is conomo i can
see the champagne bottle's cracking open on the vineyard soon, yee all deserve a big thumbs up
for this,I live and
breathe the migrtaion page, what stellar news to hear! Sorry for two posts,i thought my last post did
not go thru.

a little video of my motorcycle trip today but more importantly my favorite local Osprey pair have nested again and we will see if chicks are hatched this year..last year the nest had eggs but the adults abandoned it for some reason before anything hatched....

Gerard, what a beautiful nest....no platform, utility lines, cell tower....the way it should be.....a tree nest....just great, made my day.

Yes I can see the male.

I'll do my best to answer your questions and get you some good links to information tomorrow...just overloaded today.
