This osprey nest site has beautiful, large pictures! (This picture is reduced to 400 px wide.)

This nest seems to have some drama each year...this past season 2009 a little juvie named Koo ended up having a broken leg....did indeed fledge and was capture after being found unable to fly. Unfortunately his injury would interfere with is ability to be free and was euthanized.

Pearl( a new Mom this year on this nest ).last seen.. Aug. 9, 2012.
Leo the oldest chick last seen...Aug.26, 2012... 7 days after his first flight.
Kemo .. last seen......Sept. 2 , 2012.
Matts the middle chick.. last seen....Sept 6, 2012...15 days after his first flight....

Cam was not streaming since Sept. 16, 2012

I was asked by Ploughboy to post this great news. He lives in Finland, I'm sure many of you already know him from other forums. He has worked very hard, and spent a lot of time to get this done. The cam viewers and ospreys will benefit from his efforts.

I am the owner of Finnish discussion forum, Osprey's Nest - The Place To Be!, and i have wonderful news for you all.

We have negotiated with Voitto Pulkkinen, the administrator and owner of the Hailuoto-Marjaniemi Osprey Nest Webcam, and Voitto Pulkkinen has agreed that images from the webcam may be posted for example here on BCAW.


Here is the text of the agreement:

All screen capture images from the Hailuoto-Marjaniemi Osprey-nest webcam are available for use in non-commercial and non-profitable connections, but use by media such as television, newspapers etc. is prohibited.

Recording and presenting of recorded video stream in other than private use is prohibited.
Screen captures may be uploaded and stored in commercial photo-hosting websites, such as Photobucket, ImageShack, Flickr, Pic-Upload, etc.

If screen capture images from the Hailuoto-Marjaniemi Osprey-nest webcam are posted to any website, forum or blog, the name of the original owner of the image copyrights must mentioned: © Voitto Pulkkinen.

Posting of videos from Hailuoto-Marjaniemi Osprey webcams to any website is prohibited.

The rights of all the images from Hailuoto-Marjaniemi Osprey webcams are reserved by the original copyright owner, Voitto Pulkkinen.

in the above i've emphasized the important points with bold text: pictures are allowed, videos are not allowed, and he strongly wishes that his copyright is clearly shown/mentioned with the pictures.

This is a great improvement from the previous, and i think we should be very happy and grateful for Voitto Pulkkinen's permission to capture and post Hailuoto pictures.

The camera will be open in the first week of April.

My dog got me up at 5:00am to go out, so while I waited for her, I decided to look at the Finnish O's. Just in time to catch this mating.

Does anyone know where this nest is located in Finland?

I wish that those who own this cam stream would move the video logo down to the lower right corner, that way it would not mar the images.
