What lovely pictures - thanks so much, Junie. And it does look as if Odin is getting ready to depart (I love your last picture!) - and as if the chicks are getting independent, whether they're catching their own fish at this point or just taking delivery and eating away from the nest.
I was just looking back to departure dates (or more accurately time/date last seen) for last year:
Dad Odin - Aug 22
Mom EJ - Aug 27, ~8 am
Rothes (oldest chick) - Aug 9, 9:30 am (age 79 days)
Mallachie (middle chick) - Aug 26, 8:30 pm (age 94 days)
Garten (youngest chick) - Aug 29, 11:30 am (95 days)
I keep Rothes in mind when I worry about chicks who don't seem to have had enough time with the adults before they disappear - she fledged when she was 54 days, so had only been flying for about 3-1/2 weeks when she left on migration - two weeks sooner than her sisters. And because she has a transmitter, we know that she's doing OK. (Mallachie also had a transmitter which is no longer transmitting; we are hoping the problem is with the transmitter and not with her.)
It is a happy and sad time - this is what they do, but we will miss them.

Hello, and JudyB, I'm glad you like the pictures....
I want to say thank you for all you're informative and relevent information. I really appreciate all you're input on all our birds on the forum, its good having this kind of data regarding pertinent dates on number of eggs laid, hatchlings, surviving nestlings, fledglings, parent birds and their graduation dates' of migration....
I looked in at 5:47.PM BST - To my suprise Odin was on the nest, he was scanning around the vicinity, I sometimes think he has the eyes of a hawk (sea hawk), Then as I thought he was taking off again, a young juvie spotted Odin in the nest. I heard the juvie shrilling loudly as she landed, and looking at Odin for a fish delivered. This young ospie was in for a suprise too - Odin's talons were empty. Its obviously wasn't what this noisey, hungry juvie expected - No FISH!!!
Odin on nest duty - and once again - look out this youngster is really

I'm sure Odin hears the juvie's shrills as youngster gets nearer to the nest site and - NO FISH

juvie immediately had its head down and looking underneath at Odin's talons' - NO Fish SUPPER
