Lesser Spotted Eagle (Aquila pomarina)

There is a lovely Lesser Spotted Eagle (LSE) nest in Latvia!
Up till now it wasn't published too much as this is a research nest with limited connection - and over use meant the researchers couldn't log in!
But that has been sorted, and we are in time to watch this eagle rear her single chick!

The researchers are logging what food the eagles eat - Here is Their Site
Perhaps we could help by mentioning what food was brought in - as long as we are sure?

The Female's name is Grieta

She layed two eggs on 27 April and 1 May
One egg since failed - which is a relief as these Eagles practice Cainism!

The chick was first seen June 5th - so may have hatched just before!

The chick keeps behind the greenery most of the time - but hopefully that will soon be trampled!

Strong winds today - the tree is gyrating so much that the entire nest is out of sight at times!! Grin
The chick appears tobe in front of Mum - in the sun
