Giant Pandas at Zoo Vienna

History previously posted by Hélène

Just a little bit information for those who are not familiar with the Vienna pandas.
The pandas Yang Yang ( female) and Long Hui (male) came to Vienna in 2003 on a 10 years contract when they were both 2.5 year old. In 2006 they mated but it turned out Yang Yang had a false pregnancy. In 2007 they mated again and on 23 August 2007 Fu Long was born. :eclove He is the first baby panda in Europe in 25 years and he was conceived by natural means. The name Fu Long means "Happy Dragon" in Chinese.

Here's a link to the English site from Zoo Vienna about Fu Long:
http://www.zoovienna.at/e/index.html
Click on "Fu Long in a nutshell", from there you can click on Diary of Fu Long's first four months and more about the Schönbrunn pandas.

The Austrian radio and broadcasting corporation (ORF) has put a video diary online. The site is in German but you can click on the links to watch the videos. Scroll down below to were you see "Erstes Video vom Pandababy".

Awww...Fu and his little cousin Wub, those are wonderful to see Helene Clapping Thank you so much!

It's great how we are seeing more of the pandas now, perhaps there is a silver lining to Tai and Lani going over there after all - bringing more attention to how much everyone around the world loves them!
