Welcome to the Oak Bay Eagles thread for the 2014/2015 season. There are 3 nests in the Municipality of Oak Bay that have been monitored by the locals for many years, known as the Fire Hall, Anderson Hill and Golf Course nests. During past years, the eagles have produced many young and we look forward to another successful season for the eagles. Information and photos of the eagles from these 3 nests from previous seasons can be found here. Please feel welcome to post your observations and photos of the eagles that inhabit these nests if you visit their nest area.

I went to all 3 Oak Bay nests this afternoon.

No eagles at the old or new Fire Hall nests. Some clearing has begun on the property at the end of the cul-de-sac behind the Fire Hall. I went down to the beach beside the private school and spotted Mom in the big tree at the back of the property. School was in and so was the tide so I had to settle for a few long distance pics which I will post later.

No eagles at the Golf Course or Anderson Hill nests or anywhere in the area of their nest trees. There was so much fog rolling in while I was at the lookout on Anderson Hill that I couldn't even see Trial Island; all I saw was the 3 towers sticking up above the fog bank Oh My

This is a sign that the Municipality of Oak Bay has erected in the lane behind the fire hall near the base of the old nest tree.

Here's Mom Fire Hall in the tree at the back of the private school on Beach Dr.
They have all been cropped substantially due to the long distance away.

A friend told us last Friday he had seen 2 adult bald eagles in Fireman's Park by the FireHall.

No sighting at Anderson Hill.

I did a tour of the Oak Bay nests this afternoon. Both Fire Hall eagles were perched in a tree up the road from the nest and were being quite vocal. I was having a nice chat with a lady who purchased a home in the gated subdivision just over a year ago and the eagles were calling back and forth while we were chatting. She and her husband watched the 2 eaglets this past summer from their deck. It was overcast at the time and the sun was behind the tree so the one pic I took is poor quality Roll eyes I did not see either pair from the Golf Course or Anderson Hill nests Sad

Saw Pa Anderson Hill on his post on Trial Island today. Dismal grey rainy weather and I tried for a picture but..................I mean, really! Just take my word for it. Grin

Also saw 1 FireHall eagle at the top of a tree in the cul de sac where they nested last year. Again... picture... but NO

So both Firehalls are accounted for but only 1 Golf Course and 1 Anderson Hill.
