Welcome to the Osprey nest in Longmont, Colorado at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.

The cam can be viewed here: http://www.bouldercounty.org/os/openspa ... amera.aspx

There is a Facebook page for this nest. Boulder County Parks and Open Space

History:
In 2003 this pair of osprey built a nest on a lightpole near the entrance to the Boulder County Fairgrounds. In 2009 a platform was built just east of Cattail Pond by wildlife biologists. The Osprey accepted the nest and have returned each year. They have been see fishing at both Fairgrounds lakes, TWin Peaks golf course, Lagerman Reservoir, and Pella Crossing.

The osprey were seen at the nest on 4/12/14

Mating observed 4/22/14

First egg laid on 4/27/14.

Summary: There were 3 chicks at this nest. The cam was hit by lightning early in the season. Another cam was place on the side of a building but
it was difficult to see what was happening at the nest. All the chicks did fledge.

2015 season starts here

April 2015

A new cam has been installed.

There have been 2 females at the nest. The female from last year has been displaced. The new female laid
the first egg on 4/19/15 at 10:48am.

First egg: 4/19/15
Second egg: 4/22/15 overnight. Seen at 6:39am.
Third egg: 4/24/15 5:39pm
Fourth egg: 4/27/15 3:19pm

First egg: 5/30/15 3am If the last egg does not hatch I think the first was not viable and we were seeing eggs 2,3 and 4 hatching. Will rework this in a few days.
Second egg: 5/31/15 6pm
Third egg: 6/3/15 6am
Fourth egg: did not hatch

Fledged:
#1 Chick (Cameron) 7/27/15

This season was very calm and peaceful. There were no attacks, loss of chicks or other mishaps. The chicks were well-fed by both parents, though dad was the primary
provider. There were owls and hawks in the area but one parent or the other was always on the nest. The chicks all fledged by the first of August. They have been finding other
perches and Cameron has spent several nights off the nest. They show evidence of trying to catch fish as they have come to the nest very wet. However, they could also just have
been taking a bath. I have not seen one of the chicks bring a fish to the nest. They are handling wiggling fish quite well though as we have seen several times after dad has delivered
live fish to the nest.

A windy chilly spring day here. The temps will be in the mid 50's.

7:09am to 7:17am Dad is incubating the egg. He digs and rotates around the egg cup pulling up grass as he moves around. He then settles into face 12. Then he turns again to face 8.

7:31am Mom is now incubating.
