The R F bald eagle nest is located North of Leesburg, along the Potomac River,in Northern Virginia on a large horse breeding and training farm.

A Little History

This is our ninth year watching this pair. Typically, they have had two eaglets survive each year. One year, only one survived. As this is only the second year with the camera, we have no idea how many eggs in prior years they have had. Last year, there were two eggs and both eaglets successfully left the nest. In 2011, however, three eaglets survived, and after leaving the nest, spent a few weeks together before moving on!

This is a nice very clear cam with an overhead view and zooming capability.

I have now learned that the parents on this nest have been named George and Martha!! love

Eagle Cam informed us that the original RF nest collapsed during the Snowmageddon in Feb 2010. This nest was built in the current tree near the old one and first used in 2011, thus this is 4th year for current nest.

Much thanks to MsO for the above information!!

How to tell George and Martha apart: George's tail is heart shaped, Martha's goes straight across.

Thank you MsO for help in identifying Martha and George Thank You

12:13 pm What a lovely clear camera! Parent just rolled the eggs (didn't get to see them) and is now moving some grassy materials around as it nestles into the bowl to continue incubating!

Tonight we have some sadness Sad at yet another nest. One of the eggs has been broken accidently and contained a fully formed chick. When the male brought the rabbit Martha could not get off the eggs to eat and dragged the bunny into the egg cup --breaking one of the eggs. The broken egg be seen lying in front of Martha in the snow. The other 2 appear to be OK. Looks like she is also snuggled up to the rabbit.
