I'm sure this is the wrong place to post but I do not know where to do so. I have searched the web for a place to post a photo of an animal seen in my back yard but cannot find where to do it. I hope it is okay to post here and hope someone can help
identify this animal. One person on Facebook said Vole, it's too big. Another suggested Beaver or ground hog. Tail wrong for Beaver and too big for ground hog.

Thank you jazzel26, for you response. A woodchuck is the closest similar that I have gotten. Now the question is what is a woodchuck doing in my backyard, living under my shed? I live in the suburbs of Lincoln, Ne. and although we have had raccoons and possums, this is a first.

Getting ready to eat your garden, and they eat a lot.

Here's some information on woodchucks, also apparently known as groundhogs.

Maybe, besides eating your garden, next Feb. 2nd it can tell you how long winter will last! Wink

Husband heard somewhere that a bowl of amoinia set in the place the animals have taken up residence, will discourage them from coming back. He put a bowl of amonia under the shed, I took some pictures as this
Woodchuck was out from under the shed. Pictures not very good but, I haven't seen him since. Guess the amonia worked. He has gone on to some other garden, I think.

You have to click on the "File" box, then something that looks like [ file ][ /file ] appears in your post. For each attachment, insert a number (1, 2, 3...) like this: [ file ]1[ /file ] - but with no spaces.

Here's a link to PEB's tutorial which explains it much better than I can -
forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=6#6

At the moment we can put in up to 3 pictures per post.
