Decorah, Iowa - Bald Eagle Cam
http://www.luther.edu/eaglecam/
Other cams in the area - http://www.raptorresource.org/falcon_cams/index.html
This nest was featured on the Nature show "American Eagle" - and now you can watch it live!
The nest is in Decorah, Iowa; the exact location is not publicized to protect the eagles. Local time is Central time. The pair has been observed since 2002 - you can read the Nest Diaries online at the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation website - but 2009 was its first year online. They successfully raised three eaglets in 2009.
Based past experience for this pair, look for eggs in the first half of March, chicks in mid-April, and fledging in early July.
2009-2010 Season:
- cam on: November 19, 2009
- eggs laid: February 25, 7:36 pm; February 28, 11:13 pm; March 5, 6:50 pm
- hatched: April 3, 7:33 pm (37 days); April 5, 4:11 pm (36 days); April 10, 8:34 am (36 days)
- fledged: on or before June 28 (86 days); ~June 23 (79 days); on or before June 26 (77 days)
- last seen: all three were seen in the nest July 7, the day the cam was turned off

Decorah, Iowa, history note: Decorah is named for a prominent Ho-Chunk (Winnebago) Family. Decorah is the Native American name for the French Descaris or DeCarrie Family. Chieftess Hopokoekau, known as “Glory of the Morning” or “Coming of the Dawn”, married French military officer, Joseph Sabrevoir Descaris about 1729 during the Fur Trade Era. Many descendants of this union were later removed from Wisconsin to Iowa and beyond. The Decorah Family is Thunderbird Clan.

Lots of activity at the nest this morning - and they made me wonder when I first looked in to see on nestled into the nestbowl. First egg was March 2 last year - but I wouldn't be surprised if it was earlier this year.
They have reported that the cam is overloading from time to time, so don't be surprised if you can't get in during "prime time" - it is one of the streaming cams with sound, which does make it very attractive.
