What wonderful news! Thank you so much, PandaLover! I've been a bit worried about this pair, with the work involved in the move to a new nest, and the fact that only one of their eggs hatched last year - so am very glad to see the little one this morning!

I'm going to try to pull together some numbers, but it looks as if it was almost a day before the first chicks at CalTrans and Two Harbors were fed. I think some are fed sooner, but it's definitely not unusual for the parents to wait a while before the first feeding.

Thanks for the information on the feeding Judy! I would be very interested in seeing what the results are! I had read somewhere that the eaglet subsists on nutrients in the egg shell, and doesn't need to be feed immediately!

Adult is up and pecking at the food, and either offered the little one a couple of bites or is checking its readiness to feed by seeing how it responds when she reaches out to it. Doesn't look as if the prey was touched, so I'm thinking just checking, not feeding yet. Little one seemed eager, and was almost trying to climb over the two eggs to get to the adult.

Looking very good here.
