Here are a couple of pictures of the fledged Anderson Hill eaglets taken on July 9th when PatB and Ian and I did a tour of the Oak Bay nests . We had a lovely picnic lunch atop Anderson Hill where these photographs were taken. We did see the eaglets in flight but did not capture that. I guess we were eating at the time and missed it. Smile
We were so fortunate to have had such beautiful weather that day though and also the day of Fledgefest because we certainly have not had much of what anyone would call summer weather so far. PatB timed it well.
Hard to photograph as you can easily see but click the pic 2X for a wee bit better.

Went to Anderson Hill this afternoon and lo and behold there was the usual eagle on the post at Trial Island but this time it was one of the juvies and the other juvie was on the ground. After about an hour, Pa came in with some food and the juvies battled over it and Pa took his place on the post. Then one of the juvies decided he wanted the post back and fought with Pa to get it. He wasn't successful so he decided to fly back toward the nest. I haven't looked at any of the pix or video yet but if there is anything decent to post I will do that later.

The Golf Course juvies were flapping up a storm when we arrived but by the time we parked and got out with cameras and binoculars they had settled down, so no documentation of that.

No one home at the Firehall.

These are shot from such a distance, hence the really poor resolution, but it was such a treat to see the eaglets on Trial Island acting like Pa and so I have to post them anyway.

There was lots of activity on the Victoria Golf Course yesterday. Food kiosks everywhere and police guards at every possible entrance to keep the riff raff, like me, out.
The eaglets were amused.

elle, nice pics of the eaglets. I'm sure the people on the whale watching boats were thoroughly entertaind by the eagles.

Yesterday the Victoria Golf Club was hosting the Courtnall Charity Golf Classic, with numerous 'rich and famous' celebrities in attendance. I'm sure the guards were in attendance to keep the public in general out, unless you had purchased a ticket for this charity tournament, which is held to raise money for mental health, in memory of the Courtnall brothers' father who suffered with a mental illness and eventually committed suicide. It was certainly not an event that would fit within my budgetRoll eyes

Thanks Kay for the explanation of the festivities at the Golf Course yesterday. I am obviously not up on the local news. I did see the headlines for that but didn't read the story in detail. Your and my inability to attend notwithstanding, they had a beautiful day for a worthy cause and the eaglets seemed to be enjoying it from their aerie far from the madding crowd. Smile
