Ma Firehall is sitting on an egg ( or two?) Just saw her about 1/2 hour ago. Too bad about the stick in front of her face. Due to the late afternoon lighting, this was the best I could do. But isn't it just great that they are back and they seem to be the first to lay an egg. Left thumb up

waveelle: Thats great news if the Fire Halls have an egg already. It's strange because when I asked some of the firemen if they saw the eagles, they said noPuzzled I guess they were just too busy to notice them at the nestRoll eyes

She's lying down in the nest, sassyk. She would only be doing that if she was incubating an egg. It seems the firemen, the police and some of the neighbours are not very reliable sources of information. Go figure Don't KnowSmile

I went to Oak Bay today and visited all 3 nests. When I arrived at the Fire Hall nest Pa was in the nest and Ma was on a branch nearby. I chatted with 2 people coming and going from the police office and both said they have seen the eagles coming and staying around the nest area for short periods of time for the past few weeks. They both said they have also seen both eagles in and around the nest for the past few days. However, I do not believe they have any eggs in the nest. As I was chatting with the 2nd person, I had my back to the nest and she looked up and said one had just left the nest tree. I managed to get a couple of pix of it flying away and then the other one flew off after the 1st one. They flew off in the distance and kept circling overhead. Then we both spotted another adult eagle flying overhead quite close to where Ma & Pa Fire Hall were soaring. All 3 adults kept circling overhead until they disappeared from sight. I walked the Bowker Creek trail and around the side street waiting for them to come back but there was no sight of them. I thought for sure if they had an egg in the nest they both wouldn't be gone from the nest area for a long time. I know they can leave the egg(s) unattended for a short while, especially when it is warm, but they usually stay close by. They were both gone far away for a long timeDon't Know

I went to the Golf Course nest and neither eagle was in sight anywhere. I went to Anderson Hill and Ma was perched in her usual tree but Pa was not on the marker at Trial Island. Ma flew off towards the nest and I walked down the road to the nest site. It is not very easy to see the nest but I think I saw something moving between the branches. I'll be able to see better after I upload my photos. I walked back up the road and spotted Pa perched in the tree Ma was in earlier. I looked at the Golf Course nest and perch tree from the top of Anderson Hill but the eagles were nowhere in sight. When I left Anderson Hill I drove back to the Golf Course nest and Ma was perched in the fir tree across from the entrance to the golf course.

I stopped at the Fire Hall nest again on my way home and still no eagles there; the nest was still empty, and that was 75 minutes laterRoll eyes I'll post some pix later.

Here are a few pix from today of Ma & Pa Fire Hall; I think it was Pa in the nest and Ma in the tree. The pix of Ma & Pa were taken at 2:25 and the pic of the empty nest was taken at 2:45 after the eagles flew off and after I had come back from my walk along Bowker Creek and the side street. Here are a few pix of the Golf Course eagle in the fir tree across from the entrance to the golf course. I'm not sure, but I think it is Pa. A bit different shape than the one I saw last week. Click them bigger.

Nice clear snappies Kay. It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday, wasn't it?
I think the Golf Course eagle you photographed is the female. " My what a big beak you have" Smile BUT I could be wrong. I think that is her favourite perch while Pa is out at sea fishing and she can also keep an eye on the nest from there. But those two look different every time I see them, too Don't Know
Doesn't sound like any Oak Bayers are getting down to business yet. I would have sworn Ma Firehall was incubating.
