Hi, all. I'm another refugee from the defunct Tulsa Hawk Forum. Catgirl's most recent photo of Kat recalled to me one taken of Tulsa's Thunder--Kay and Jay's last offspring--in a similar pose (photo by btoliver, posted in that old KJRH Hawk Forum). Both hawks are in full "pantaloon mode":
Thunder, May 25, 2008 (one day after fledging at 54 days):

Compare with Kat, in Catgirl's photo from the past week:

Welcome bville. Whew, glad to have our master librarian around with your priceless information.
I went by the nesting platform several times on Friday, May 28th. At 11:15 am, Kat was at the nesting platform, branching on one of the multitude of black lines.

When I was by at 1:30 pm, Kat appeared to be eating. At 3:30 pm, she was sitting on the eastern side of the platform, looking off towards the nearby trees.
At 6 pm, Kay was on an upright while Kat was at the nest.

I stopped back by the nesting tower around 12:30 pm. I could see Kat still running/hopping/flapping around the nesting platform level. I stopped for a moment right under the tower and used another camera to take some video/audio of Kat calling. Just as I set the camera back down, Kay and Jay both flew in to the nest. I quickly turned the video back on as lots of loud welcomes were heard. I have not downloaded those yet but when I do, I will give you a heads up when they are at my flickr site.
Another photo of Kat, practicing while waiting for lunch!

I went back by around 3:25 pm and could see Kat on the south east side of the nesting level, seeking some shade, looking very hot - panting!
Mamafrog mentioned she did not see any hawk at 3:30 when she went by - maybe Kat had enough and headed to the cooler shade of the green trees.

And then I went back by and stayed awhile from 7:30ish to sunset. Jay was perched on the goldenrod of the KJRH tower while Kay was perched at the Mazzio's tower - until shortly after sunset and she flew off into the trees to the west.
And Kat was across the street to the south of the nesting tower, sitting on the top of the chimney's (exhaust?) of a 2-story apartment/condo building.

Eventually she flew back across the street to perch in the trees immediately to the east of the nesting tower as it got dark. Kay called to her a number of times but Kat was not interested in sitting at the hot tower!

This morning at 8:30 am, Kay was perched on the railing just under the nesting platform while Jay was at the top of the Mazzio's tower. Kat was again on the chimneys of the nearby apartment building.

While I took a few photos of Kay and Jay, Kat disappeared from her perch. I looked around some, and again a couple of times in the afternoon but no sign of any hawks anywhere. Around 6 pm as I drove through the area, I could see a hawk circling higher and higher just west of the KJRH tower - and then land on the goldenrod. Jay of course! But no sign of Kay or Kat. As the weather has definitely turned hot, hopefully they are enjoying the relative coolness of the thick cover of trees around the area.
