HelloDebs, one of the adult eagles was found dead in the parking lot of the Muse Winery earlier in the season, which was very tragic. We thought there weren't going to be any eaglets this year but the remaining eagle found a new mate and they had 2 eaglets that were hatched quite a few weeks later than the rest of the eaglets in the area. It's always fun to sit out on the patio at the winery and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the eaglets so let me know when you plan to be in the areaLeft thumb up

Visited the Winery on Sunday with special forum guests from Connecticut, eaglet999/Nancy and her husband, Tim. No eagles around as expected but we were told the 2 eaglets were coming back to the nest up until a couple of weeks ago. They were apparently still calling for their parents.Sad They finally got the message and moved on.

Went by the winery today since I was already in the area visiting Pat Bay. No eagles in sight. They nested late this year and therefore the eaglets fledged late and so they migrated late so perhaps that means they will stay away longer? I did not stop to talk to Jane or Peter, the winery owners, as they were closed today and I did not want to disturb them on their days off.

I saw one of the Muse Winery eagles (I think it was Pa) this afternoon perched in a tree behind the Deep Cove Chalet. I walked down to the beach and managed to get a few pics before he few off over the water. Click pics bigger.

I went by the Muse Winery nest today and didn't see any eagles. After I got around the corner I saw wings flapping in the nest and went back to get some pics. Of course the wings didn't flap againRoll eyes but here's a pic of the nest. The eagle is in the nest behind all the greenery. Click bigger.

I visited the Muse Winery today with 2 lovely ladies; Sharon (gemini) and Vicki (vickrb) who were in Victoria and spent the day with me. I was most pleased to see Dad eagle perched at the top of a tree near the nest tree while Mom was in the nest feeding 2 chicks Very Happy Peter, the owner of Muse Winery, said the chicks were born last week, one on Wed. So, these eagles are late again this year. That's just fine with me because I will still have eaglets to watch after the others have left the area.

Some pics of Dad preening in the nearby tree. Click bigger.
