Try this and see if it changes anything. I'm not sure if it will

Go to Snagit at the top left of your screen and click on it then click on Preferences


Open Advanced in the window that appears and click on Restore Gallery Styles


If that doesn't change anything in the tool bar then maybe try the ABC with the dotted line around it.
Drag it over and see if you can type in text without a line showing up around it. I tried it on mine and it works the same as the one I have at the top without the line around it.


That totally baffles me that our Tools are different. I have no idea why that would be.

Bev, what I think may have happened to the box to start with is that you accidentally deleted it.
See where I circled the little X that is on the blue box ? Any time you click down on those X's it will make that particular one disappear. That's because you have a choice of whether or not you want to keep any of them in the tool bar.
If you accidentally click on one again and it disappears now you know how to make it reappear. -- by going to File/Preferences/Advanced/Restore Gallery Styles. Of course, it took me a moment to realize where it had gone. I'm new at this software as well.
