CCB/Richmond 2012-2013

Richmond, Virginia - Bald eagles nest

http://www.ustream.tv/richmondeagles

A second cam has been added.

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ccb-richmond-eagles-2

The Richmond nest territory was established in 1996 and the cam was installed in 2012. The cam began operating for the first time on January 15, 2012.

Eagle history: This pair built a nest along the James River 90 feet up in a loblolly pine in 1995. They abandoned the first nest and built the current nest in 2001. The nest has been used for 10 years and 18 chicks have successfully fledged. In 2011 2 eaglets fledged.

The eggs are usually laid in mid to late February. They hatch in late March.

The CAMs have day and night viewing, panning and zooming capabilities. There are two cams installed.

At this time we do not know for sure if there will be a cam/chat for us to follow from CCB. We will keep this thread open until we hear more information. You will be able to add info to this thread as you get updates. The link to the 2011-2012 season is listed below.

It has been announced that there will not be a cam streaming at the Richmond nest. They have not designated another site at this time either. They may have a site for the 2014 season.

I have been hearing reports that are not as promising as the one in the article above. The eagles are building a nest about .5 miles from the old nest site. This area will not be good for wiring a cam or setting up a feed. It remains to be seen which nest the Richmond parents will use. So at this point it is a wait and see proposition.

Well no cam for CCB Richmond this year. Saw on FB someone posted a link to this article where Dr Watts confirms that there will not be a cam this year.
