Welcome to Ma & Pa Sidney's thread. This thread is dedicated to observations, photos and videos of our beloved Ma & Pa Sidney, around the area of Pat Bay during the 2012/2013 season. Ma & Pa built a new nest at the end of the 2011 nesting season and sadly there will be no cam on their new nest. Read David Hancock's comments here: The Sidney Nest Dilemma Many of the local members who visit the area on a regular basis are welcome to share their observations, photos and videos of Ma & Pa Sidney, taken at the beach or around the Pat Bay area, for everyone to enjoy. Read about Ma & Pa Sidney's activities during the previous season and see photos and videos of them posted by HWF members here: Ma & Pa Sidney -- 2011/2012 Season

Note: Due to privacy & safety concerns of the property owners where the new nest is located, and at David Hancock's request, HWF members have been asked not to take photos or video around the new nest area. No photos or video of the eagles around their new nest area will be permitted on this thread, or anywhere else on the forum.

I went to Pat Bay yesterday and both Ma & Pa were there Clapping Ma was perched in one of the trees beside the Pat Bay Trading Post when I arrived and was still there when I left the area just after 5pm. The first time I drove past the nest I didn't see Pa but he could have been nearby gathering branches for their nest, which will certainly require a lot of nestorating after raising 3 eaglets this past season. The next time I drove by Pa was perched in the tall tree next to the nest tree. When I went by the third time after having a coffee at the market, Pa was gone. They both look healthy Wub I'll post some pics of Ma soon but sadly no pics of Pa. Welcome home Ma & Pa Sitting eagle Sitting eagle

Here are a few pics of Ma, perched in the tree behind the Pat Bay Trading Post. She was facing away from the road so I went down the trail to the back area where I could see her; unfortunately the sun was in front of me Roll eyes

This pic was taken from up the road by the path down to the beach, just before I left the area at approx. 5pm. Ma was perched there the entire time I was in the area.

Sooo very nice to see both Ma and Pa again KaySmile Thanks so much! I'm praying for rain here soon, so very dry and salmon runs are being affected by low running rivers...I shudder to think what may happen if the salmon are unable to venture up the goldstream river and other rivers too for spawning :ds:

Debbie, it's always a pleasure to share Ma & Pa with everyone Grin I hope next time I visit Pa will be out and about, taking a break from his nestorating duties so I can get some pics of him. As much as we love the sunshine, we do need rain fingers crossed Depending on the species of salmon, they usually start showing up at Goldstream anywhere from mid to late October, and it's already Oct. 4th. However, the stormy weather will come too soon for my liking; let's hope that Pa can get that nest built up before then.

Thank you Kay! It is so good to see Ma. I hope we get to see more pictures of these beloved eagles in the Pat Bay area where you are allowed to take pictures.

Thank you!
