Hello Everyone,

I've been watching the nest everyday and last week I did see that raccoon in the nest after a head's up from Karen. I watched him until he left. He seemed quite at home. I didn't see him the second time he came back and find that as disturbing as you all do. I had seen both adults on the nest a number of times until this guy showed up. Willpat's suggestion sounds like a possible solution.

I know in Maine under some circumstances the appropriate officials can put a predator guard on a tree to protect an active nest. I haven't actually seen one, but I think it's basically a piece of metal that wraps around the tree and makes it impossible to climb. I don't know how available they are, or who (if anyone) would need to get permission to install one.

Perhaps David or Bev would know.

Earlier this week I had posted this on OWL's Rehab thread but perhaps I should have posted it here instead.

Monday morning Bev Day saw the raccoon hiding behind the trunk of the tree.
She said she may get hold of someone at Critter Care for some advice on how to entice him to leave the area without bringing any harm to him.

Well done, the racoon should be taken care of soon- either solution sounds good! And no harm to anyone!

TWO raccoons in the nest.
In the first s'cap I could swear they're mating.
The first s'cap was from the 4 version view of the nests which explains why it's smaller than the other.
