Boyd, unfortunately for us viewers, but fortunately for Ma & Pa Sidney, they have moved house. They have built a new nest on another property. The property owners will not allow David to install a camera in their tree for fear of people trespassing on their property, harming their animals, standing on the road beside their property and possibly attracting the attention of passersby, and an intrusion of privacy on their lives Cry Maybe next season the property owners will change their minds fingers crossed

Oh, how I wish they would! I respect their decision, but I can't stop hoping they reconsider. I miss this family! But, of course, the most important thing is that Ma and Pa are thriving, and have built a much safer nest for their babies!

Wow, that is bad news for me. I love that Sidney pair. I don't think we will ever see anothe Bill Gates nest like that one. I was always amazed to see five large birds, walking around in that enormous nest and not even touching each other. That nest is a plantation estate. Even if the new property owners let us see ma and pa next year, I doubt we will ever see a nest that large again.

Is there another pair of nesting eagles in the Sidney area, maybe?

Or thinking as the property owner with livestock or enclosure where dogs can roam at will, but is near or around the nest, I'd go with the property owners. I want more trees on mine so that they who drive by can't see what I'm doing, even just mowing the lawn.

Thus, another pair of eagles would be my thought.

Little Kopit, It's certainly something David Hancock can consider for next nesting season fingers crossed It definitely is too late for this season to install a cam on another nest, even if David could find a property owner who would be willing to let him do it. There are plans to install a camera in a nest in the Courtenay area by the bridge over the river, but I don't know if it will be up and running this nesting season. It is not one of David Hancock's cameras.

Little Kopit. There are many nesting pairs in the Sidney area and all the property owners who have been approached thus far have not wanted to have a cam on their property. Here are a few pictures of a Sidney area nest that I have been keeping an eye on that I think has a lot of potential . I took these pix yesterday afternoon. I will ask the admins to open a new thread if I see nesting activity at this nest this year.

I was actually successful in finding a nest for a cam in the Victoria area for this coming nesting season but things fell apart at the last minute. There is still a possibility that one might work out. You never know.

And I have brought this new Sidney area nest to David's attention so he is aware.

But I think it is safe to say that the locations of any new nest cams on private property will not be publicly divulged due to too many issues in the past year .

Hi Linda: Took a drive by that nest yesterday on the way to Pat Bay and there didn't appear to be any activity in or around the nest.
