Ohmigosh emme. Those pictures are absolutely amazing. Poor buck, it must have drowned, but lucky for you and the eagles and vultures. You certainly have great timing.
sassyk: Nice sub-adult, too.
I am currently by a lake in the Laurentian mountains in Quebec until Tuesday morning when I will return to Montreal. Won`t be home for another two weeks.

I was visiting the Oak Bay eagle nests yesterday and photographed this Great Blue Heron having a scratch on a rock off Beach Drive by the Oak Bay Marina. Click bigger.

This doe was walking down the boulevard across from the Victoria Golf Course when I was there yesterday photographing the eagles. I didn't know what she would do so I went across the road and stood behind my car to photograph her. She was nibbling at the greenery above the rock wall and then went down to the flower bed where she decided to eat some of the newly planted flowers. Click bigger.

Great photos, Kay--amazing heron images!

For your deer, in the third photo, I can see her udder--with one (of two) nipples showing. The udder on deer is at the base of their abdomen, and between their hind legs. She has one or two fawns somewhere nearby Roll eyes

Very cute seeing her stand up to eat greenery--or should I say, cute to see her eat someone else's greenery! Wink

Thank YouBirdsie. I was quite certain the doe must have had fawns somewhere and that's why I didn't get too close. I was walking back to my car on the same side of the street where she was eating the flowers. She appeared from someone's driveway a few meters in front of me. When she saw me I wasn't too comfortable with the look she gave me so I crossed the road to my car. I quite often see deer on the golf course and so do the golfers; they usually ignore them and let them graze.

A sub-adult perched in one of the trees along the beach path at the south end of Pat Bay this past Sunday. It looked a bit older than the previous one I saw there a couple of weeks ago. The quality isn't too good; the eagle was in the shade of the tree and I was in the bright sunRoll eyes Click bigger.
