Feeding time.

I was reviewing the video and noticed an abrasion on chick 1 head. That must have been where the shell was stuck for so long. Let me know what you all think.
You can see it on the video at about 5.55 (at least that is where I noticed it).
Video is long... and the eaglets get tucked in around 6.20... The rest is of mom brooding.

I see what you mean, JudyL. It's definitely some sort of abrasion. I'm thinking along the same lines as you are that perhaps it was stuck a bit to the inside of the shell there. Let's just keep an eye on it. I've not really seen this before but as we know from this year...anything can happen. There sure hasn't been time for bopping and let's hope there isn't any while the little one has that boo-boo.

3:45PM--about the same time as your video, JL.

Strong little one trying hard to sit up--falls back. Lots of pink...not sure if it's all feet.

Good look at the egg tooth still on #1's little beak

Little one right on it's back, feet in the air--peeping!

This is a really fun and entertaining video.
Mom gets up around 2.10 into the video and the lets are sooo cute...
Littlest one still rolling around trying to find some balance.
Mom attempts to feed oldest one. Not sure if she got anything though. I will have to watch it again to see.
Some dry braking going on.
I can't help but laugh at the size of the piece that mom tried to offer big one. Big one took it, and it got stuck in her throat and mom took it out of her throat. LOL

About 12.40 into the video parent gets up and exposes the chicks...
Lots of fun movement and oh, so cute.
It looks like a feeding... maybe...
Might have been just dry beaking.
Sorry about the long video... Just fast forward.
(I haven't learned how to edit yet). That is next on my "to learn" list... LOL

PattiO from Window on Wildlife forum posted this in response to my notification about what I thought was an abrasion...

Judy ... I think it was food (blood) dripped from the adults beak when it went back around to cover them.

That certainly makes sense and what a relief. I kept looking and recording trying to see it again... but to no avail.. Probably because it doesn't exist.. It was just food... PHEW!!!
