ok I just got back to seeing feeding 3 end, the one chick has a huge crop full of chipmunk pieces!! the other two have smaller ones. BR swallowed whole what was left. I believe the pantry is empty or very close to it!

so EZ has brought two prey items so far, the robin being one of them the other squirrel. When BR took the robin off the nest I do not believe she ate it or she'd have had a huge crop herself! When she returned she didn't nor did she have the robin partially eaten. It seems she had to have rejected it out of the nest but why is very very intriguing

12:43 still brooding chicks

12:53 chick backs out for poo shot and right back under, it sure is cool today

1:00 shes still trying but chicks are popping out all over the place Laugh

1:22 still brooding and awake now

1:27 BR got up stretched and left, chicks stay huddled for warmth. I don't see any prey at all

1:36 no change

1:41 BR is back, can't see if she's got anything but can see the winds are picking up. Yes she does have something

1:43 the one chick sat up and stared at it then came over and reached in for a peck on it. She's keeping it a well hidden secret but it sure looks beat up from what I can see. The one chick has been flapping as you can see

1:45 she appears to be digging and that prey could well be road kill, all I can tell is it was a bird by the foot. I must look it up to see if they scavenge or not. Likely if it presents itself. It looks old and for sure in rough shape. The kids are interested in eating

1:51 nope she's back brooding

Yes! hawks do and will eat roadkill and unattended small pets Oh My

have to do meds soooo I have to eat something, won't be too long Out

2:39 didn't miss a thing, BR is still on them, prey is still there and there's no new prey so EZ likely wasn't in either

chicks are peeping so I suspect feeding 4 soon

2:50 nope, chick is peeping still so she's up but not off

2:52 here we go and somebody is pretty much screaming. I suppose whoever got ripped off last feeding

feeding 4 starts and its the little guy, he's famished and right at her beak ready as she tears. You can just see his wee body

2:55 that just might be pigeon, must check feed and see if they know. The others are getting in now

2:58 now its a grabbing frenzy between 1 and 2. Man they're hungry

2:59 she's watching all around, I bet its EZ. All three peeping away, so cute

3:04 still going strong nicely keeping their elbows off the table Laugh

3:08 yup and our cam angle has changed, one is done. Wrongo, he's back in

3:12 still going and it's red meat, doesn't look like roadkill now. Maybe BR just beat it up before she brought it home

so the chipmunk was polished off and now this one is taking a major beating so the need of prey is certainly increasing in a big way

3:14 now there's a bad camera angle, her tail is cut off and who wants to see railing? now they're way over on the left eating

3:18 still going

3:21 feeding ends and we can see the fresh meat, BR gets on them again

just checked feed and they agree that it might be pigeon so pigeon it is for the summary

3:46 still brooding it must still be cold out

3:49 something is above BR and she's not acting like its EZ! maybe it is but her behavior is different. She's flattened and seems alarmed

3:50 whatever it was it flew off behind and she swung around to the left to watch. She seems calm now

3:53 she's still looking up there the odd time, perhaps to be sure its not back. It really didn't have an EZ 'feel' about it No

4:35 BR still brooding

4:38 Br is up for a big stretch and the chick is up to eat

4:39 let the eating and peeping begin with feeding 5

4:49 still going

out for a while to do the same Out

5:59 BR up and watching the area

I checked the feed and I didn't miss anything. Came back to BR just getting up and putting her foot on the prey. She looks defensive in her posture but surely if there was a threat she'd cover the kids not the prey. Don't know what's up

Culley says shes not on alert that she's relaxed, he's a falconer and has an RT so he knows! It looked it to me but I was wrong. Our eagles puff up when threatened so there's another difference
