8:09 am

Good morning, Jude and Sherri!

The new object is looking different already - blowing around?

Dad in with a stick. Mom decided to get while the getting was good. Hmm - I thought Dad was getting ready to settle in, but he left while I was typing. One of them back a moment later - not sure which yet, but moving a stick, so maybe Dad.

One of them has now nestled in and is poking at the red thing - I'm thinking this must be Dad covering the nest while Mom takes her breakfast break. Reddish thing is now looking like a piece of tarp or something.

And speaking of breakfast - I'll be back soon.

:hello:Hello Sherri, Thanks for posting what you saw. I went out for a walk and missed that.

Hello Judy, I watched your video just now. That reddish thing is a bit stiff. I wonder wonder what it is? :dunno:
Earlier this spring they brought, what looked to me like, big sheets of bark. Do you suppose it could be that? It has a "scroll-look" to it.
I want to see that tarp up in the nest again too. It must have blown off at some point.Puzzled

Mom seems to be taking a moment for herself.
All is quiet at this point.

Nice pictures, Jude - and it definitely could be bark. I wouldn't have thought of an osprey bringing that into a nest - but they do show up with strange things at times!

I think there might be two chicks - I was watching a feeding at about 8:30 pm, and it looked as if a second chick was popping up and tumbling over from time to time. love Hard to be sure - but I plan to keep an eye on the nest tomorrow and see what I can see!

Egg HatchEgg Hatch Good Morning JudyB,
Your video is great. I could see the 2nd bobble-head to the left of the chick being fed! So cute.
Well...that's 2 so far, and they are close in age. I like that.

Smile I just love the way that this mom osprey "looks" at her chicks.

It seems she has the need to look at them a lot. Her head is frequently turned down underneath her chest.
Wish we had sound. I can only imagine those little ones to be peeping!

6:50 pm
Dad arrived - probably with supper. But it looks sort of wet there (lots of rain most everywhere in the northeastern US), so Mom has continued to lie on nest nest, with her wings out a bit to keep as much as possible warm and dry.
