Karen, I must have just missed you at the park Oh My I was there around 3:30pm. I had been to Beacon Hill Park and had a bit of time before getting home to shower and get ready for hubby's birthday dinner at his daughter's so I decided to see if the eagles were home. I didn't see any movement in the nest but I do think there is one in there incubating fingers crossed I haven't seen both of them together for awhile and one is always perched in the nest tree when I'm there. I took a couple of pics from the path leading up to the rock bluff but as we both know, the sun (as welcome as it is) plays havoc with the lighting for decent pics at that time of the day. I took a couple of pics similar to yours from the path below the nest; good lighting conditions from that vantage point but the eagle was perched with its tail facing me. I just purchased a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS with 35X optical zoom and was trying it out for the first time. Both pics have been cropped. Click bigger.

I had to go to Esquimalt on Tues. and had a bit of time to spend in the park. I decided to take my camera just in case the eagles might be home. Mom was perched on the branch at the side of the nest when I arrived but I did not see any movement in the nest. I wandered up and down the paths and down to the beach and took pics from just about every vantage point but still did not see any movement in the nest Puzzled

Karen, I won't have time to go again until after I return from my vacation May 12th and I hope you are more successful at getting a pic of an eagle in the nest while I'm away :thumrht:

A few pics of Mom watching the dogs on the beach below, and preening, taken from the path below the nest tree. You can see the nictitating membrane over her eye in the 3rd pic. Click bigger.

wave Hi all

I was there on Tuesday late afternoon but only saw one eagle being chased out of the park by crows as I went in.

I will keep an eye on the nest for the next month, Kay - great pictures!

wave Hi to anyone reading!

I was at Saxe Point Park today over the noon hour - one eagle was on a branch and when the other came flying across it left but it was there for a good 15 minutes. I'm now convinced that there will be no eaglets this year because no one is sitting on the nest :cry1:
