I am sad to bring sad news here, but one of the FSV chicks was unable to make it back to the nest bowl overnight and it has not survived. It would get so far and then turn around. It may have been caught in some manner but it may never be known just what happened. Dad actually came on the nest and lay beside the chick for almost an hour. Amazing

I am off to be with the kids today. It is 45* and windy at times.

I had a great walk yesterday when it was 82* and did some yard work and rested a bit.

Have a good day all. I have lots of reviewing to do at FSV so I may not be back until Wed. I am fine but it is sad and forthis eagle family and all who watch them.

friends! Still waiting for new AC unit to come in. It's a hot one here today, but so thankful for the breezes that are still hanging around! It makes all the difference in the house!

Oh, Donna, I'm so sorry to hear about the FSV chick! So sad! How sweet of Dad to stay by his baby!

Sara, so glad you made it home and missed the worst of the storms the other night! Not sure when my next jaunt to Huntsville will be, but I'm so ready! Guess I'll just have to wait and see what Levi' schedule will be like over the next few months. I know he wants to take a couple more classes this summer, but he should be able to stay home with the animals for me for a week or two.

Bev, glad you are having some nice weather days there now! It's heating up here, but still nice. Lawns need mowing again desperately, but will have to wait until Wednesday when Levi can come home to help. He was supposed to come home yesterday, but has a sore throat and needed to rest. Hope all is well with the boys!

Carolyn, it's hot here too! Makes me not look forward to July and August very much! Hopefully, you will get some more rain soon. So glad Bleu is OK!

Jean, glad Don is doing so much better and y'all are back in your routine. Hope Xel-Ha is feeling better as well. Good luck with your new hairdresser!

Thanks to all who posted "cards" and Birthday wishes for Knox. I can't wait till the kids come down this summer so I can hug and kiss our little guy!

Donna I am sooooo sorry to hear about the FSV Chick! It is always heart breaking to lose one of our birds even though we know it's all part of nature. I think we all need to take a break when we deal with sadness like that.

Barbara I hope you get your AC replaced soon. Do you have ceiling fans or floor fans to help cool down the house? Good thing it's not summer yet with temps in the 90's and 100's. If it was, I think you might be making your way here to cool off in the pool!

Bev, I know you are keeping busy with your nests. How are Phoebe's littlle chicks doing?? We are on hatch watch at the Dunedin osprey nest. Today is the day for our 3rd little one to greet the world! I can't wait till we get down there in a few weeks to visit the nest.

Wow Carolyn!! In your pool already! I don't think we will get into ours till at least the middle of May. Haven't checked the water temp yet, but I know it's too chilly for me.

Sara glad you made it home and missed the storms. The last two nights there have been storm warnings up for Edgefield which is about an hour drive from us. We did get a little rain and thunderstorms, but we weren't in the warning area! It was enough to set Pitina into a seizure last night though. She really had me worried. As she was coming out of it , she went back into it. Took Don and me about 10 mintues to talk her out of it. She was fine afterwards and doing great today.

I had to take Xel-Ha for his 8th Laser treatment this morning. He is doing alright with them. Holding his own and showing a little progress each time. As long as we can keep him at this level or improving, things will be good. When I got back home I had planned to catch up on my nests and then tackle some ironing. WRONG! Don had other plans. He wanted me to go out and trim a few of the shurbs we couldn't do a few weeks ago since they were flowering at the time. I did a few and then it started getting hot. Temps are at 88* ! Good for pool time but certainly not hedge trimming! Guess I'll have to do that tomorrow morning! Did I say I was going to have free time!?? Guess I should have whispered it so Don didn't hear!!!

Good Morning Friends! The free day I was looking forward to has become a work day for me! I only trimmed a couple of the flowering bushes we had to wait to do yesterday, so now this morning Don wants me to go out and finish them up. We do have T-storms in the forecast so if I'm lucky they'll roll through and I can have my day back to do what I want!

Last weekend was the Steeplechase races and the above is one of the carriages from the carriage parade. I especially like this one as the man and women look like they are enjoying their ride! Love the happy expression on the guy's face! (click on picture for a larger view)

Good Morning.

Jean love the morning picture today. He does look really happy.

No yardwork here today. It is snowing and coming down in tiny flakes. It has been so warm that the streets will be fine, and we need the moisture. But it is a shock to go from 80's to 30's so quickly.

It is taking lots of time to go over the events at FSV. Pete was at his book place last night so I read through it all and looked at the excellent videos and took notes. Tonight or tomorrow I will finish it up and then I can focus on the rest of the season. However, losing an eaglet is not easy as you stated Jean.

My fav jeans are now holey jeans. They were so comfy and at least 4 years old. I really do need to take some time and find some new clothes to wear. I keep putting it off because I don't really like some of the fabric or designs currently for sale, but I will just have to move along in fashions also.....

The ditch walkers came along the ditch yesterday for clean up and they left the tree trunk where it was over the ditch. It is high up forming a bridge so most likely will not be a problem, but it would be nice for them to clean it up. They did cut away any branches that were turned toward the bottom of the ditch.
