soooooooo wasn't that fun!! BFF calls when he's on the road with all the stuff heading for home. I get our supper all warmed up and now he's piling things in the door. "By the way, he says, when I'm done eating I'm off till Monday cause tomorrow they booked me for lung test". Gee thanks for the warning. So he eats and gets washed and changed and off he goes. It's all well and good cause he's armed me and I'm dangerous.
Up I come with the TV after feeding us and putting away all the groceries....open the box, empty everything out and spread out instructions. Always do the part check first! Oh oh, the part that goes from the stand to the TV is not there! Say it aint so, I dig around the box, check the floor and every other spot and nope! Now I know from my call earlier that they have 2 so I call and get her to check the other one. She takes my name and number and then calls me back.
"I couldn't believe that two of them wouldn't have it but I looked all over then just by a fluke I look 'under' the bottom corner styrofoam and there it is, tucked up inside the styrofoam". You're kidding hang on, I go lift out the pieces and as soon as I pick up the one bottom corner you can feel it's heavy. Voila!!! now how stupid is that??? Dont push it into the top corner where you'd see it, hide it in the bottom one you have no need to get out and then don't say so in the paperwork! duh!
Now I'm off to the races with piece in hand and screws. It wasn't easy by any stretch but TV is affixed to stand and now I put it on the dresser, screw in cable and plug it in. Put batteries in remote and now the remote only works now and then. No idea why but I give up!!! It looks great and sounds great but no idea whats up with the remote issue. Going to look for troubleshooting in the manual. I have a universal remote but darned if I can find the sheet with the codes and what to do on it
yeeeeeeesh!!!
holy gaucamole my {{{{Tx}}}} she isn't bigger is she???

A Little-Known Fact
I'm guessing that by now many people have realized that we have a push on to raise what we can towards the expenses for the coming year while the eagles - and all of us who watch them - are still in residence. After all, we all want to see next year's tiny chicks up close and personal (clicks bigger) -

And we all want to watch them grow into handsome young eagles like the ones we're watching now (also clicks bigger) -

And I'm also guessing that you might think that our biggest single expense for the coming year is the cleaning, maintenance and upgrades for the cams on our three active nests.
But you'd be wrong.
The costs for servers, storage, bandwidth and network supervision is budgeted at $31,500 for the next year, which is almost $10,000 more than the cost for cleaning, maintenance and significant upgrades in equipment at our three active nests.
Now you might ask what we get for that investment. Well, one of the biggies is this forum and website.
We moved to the current forum in late 2009/early 2010 - so we've been here a bit over 2-1/2 years - and there are already almost 400,000 posts!
I could rattle on about the costs for the sort of internet service needed to send the cam signals to WildEarth for streaming while simultaneously allowing us to be logged in to control the pan-tilt-zoom cams we hope to have at all of our nests next year, or the other technical details - but my eyes glaze over just thinking about that - and I'm a techie!
So I'll just say that without all the infrastructure behind www.hancockwildlife.org, we wouldn't have a place to post or share our pictures and videos (almost 40,000 items in the Media Gallery so far, and maybe twice that many pictures attached to various posts) or get to know other people around the world who share our interest in - and love of - wildlife in general, and eagles in particular.
Forum member terrytvgal has a line in her signature that I've always liked - "I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made."

The collage above (which clicks bigger) is a sampling of the friends I've made and people whose posts I enjoy on the forum. 1128 people have posted at least once in the past 2-1/2 years - and if even half of those folks signed up to donate $5/month through CanadaHelps or PayPal - that would cover our monthly expenses for servers, storage, bandwidth and the like. You can click the picture below to see the Five Easy Ways to Donate to HWF, one of which is through monthly donations.
Our thanks to all of you who support our work in various ways - and a special thanks to all of you who make our forum and website such an active, interesting, entertaining and informative place to visit.

no I don't waste any time Doreen and Scott, something croaks out she goes and in with the new. Besides, TV is a big part of my life sadly so it really had to be done. I can 'feel' it Scott that its not anywhere near the quality of my poor old fried one. That one was smaller and weighs twice as much. This thing is flimsy! Oh well it works. I have to figure out some fine tuning but I need daylight for that and I need to test the DVD
Doreen I hope you unplugged your stuff!! learn from dumbie me. Stay safe GF I hope the bad storms blow over quickly. I'll be anxious to see you back
thanks much Judy, I've been slacking off....guess I better get a check ready to send I don't even watch these cams anymore but sure do use the site!!
my songs are in, are yours?
