BABY HATCHING !
There is NO DOUBT in my mind that we have a baby hatching right now.
Mom's got her head down watching underneath her. She is sitting up on her legs which allows a space between her and the eggs. That way she can watch her baby emerge from the egg. HOW EXCITING!

ChinSomething I remember:
Early this morning I watched mom O take something out from underneath her. It was a flat-ish object, light in color. I thought "egg shell"....but didn't want to jump to conclusions. Two pieces were removed. I'm comfortable thinking it just may have been egg shell pieces now.

Great pics and observations Cal & Jude; thank you! Poor Mom is so hot! It's 93F in the shade today, so I can imagine how hot it must be in the sun for her. I'm surprised that she's not off the eggs once in awhile, since it's so hot.

I checked JudyB's charts on the Osprey info and last year, the eggs hatched on May 29, 31 and June 3. She laid the first egg on the same date as this year too; so, we only have 3 more days until the first chick hatches.Grin

Peggy....no one knows this nest better than you....no oneWub

Cal & Jude Clapping thanks for all the daily updates and observationsGrin

Hi JungleJude, Peggy, CAL, Jazzel and everyone else who watches this cam. I was watching for a while today as well, and didn't see anything for sure, but Mom did seem as if she might be sitting a bit higher in the nest, and there might possibly have been a bit of movement while she was looking around and resettling (or maybe some wishful thinking Roll eyes). I do agree something was going on today, though I wasn't watching mid-afternoon, so missed what Jude saw.

Here are a couple of pictures, the first from around 10:30 this morning, the second from around 7:15 this evening. Neither of them show anything special - just that it's a pretty nest and a handsome pair of osprey.

Mug of coffeeI was so anxious to see the baby this morning that spent a lot of time watching. My patience paid off!
WE HAVE A SIGHTING OF THE FIRST CHICK!!!Click on image to download
Pop came in with a fish. Mom flew off the nest without taking the fish from pop. Pop stood on the edge of the nest with his fish, leaving the nest bowl exposed. It was then that a tiny little head came out to say good morning! Not a good picture from me though. I hope someone out there can get a better one today to prove the little guy is alive and well! Pop began tearing into the fish, then I witnessed moms return to the nest looking at the little bobble headed chick then at pop as if saying; "It's not time to feed him yet". Then pop left. What an exciting morning!Grin

JudyB~I really like your picture of mom & pop on the nest together. Osprey have long legs don't they?[/color]
