Cal, that video of the Bald Eagles on the nest at Ayer's is incredible!!! You had your recorder going at the right time to catch all that. It looks like the wind was a bit too much for the juvie, blowing it into the adult, pushing the adult off the nest and into the air. Wooh That was so interesting to watch. Thank you so very much.Thank You

The nest is filling up with snow again this morning.

Barb Walker said unless the eagles have eggs on the nest it's not usually a problem. The ospreys chase them off.

Looks like no one what's to be on that nest todayTitter

Jazzel, Many thanks to you for gathering that bit of information. A sigh of relief for the ospreys.

Cal, I'm glad you posted the pic of the nest covered in snow. It will be a permanent record of how the snow hung on this spring.
What a year for snow in the northeast!

Not exactly a sigh of relief. Barb Walker, is using what she knows about Florida Ospreys and Eagles. Nesting times and populations are very different, Florida to New Hampshire. As you know, I'm following this nest.

I've set up a new thread for the 2011 nesting season - link is forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=28998

I will be either summarizing or moving the most recent posts so they're also at the beginning of the new thread - but that may not happen until tomorrow.

For now, I'm locking this thread - please add any new posts to the new thread. If we eventually decide to keep this as one large thread, I can merge them back fairly easily (much more easily than I can split them out, which is why I'm going ahead even though I haven't heard from a few of the regulars to see what they'd prefer).

I am excited to see the osprey beginning to return - and am hoping for a wonderful nesting season for all our feathered friends. Smile
