Cal......Outstanding pics!!!!
You caught photos of dad fishing under the nest. How neat is that??????? Will you be posting video of it? Very cool. Great job!
Isn't it really early in California right now? You are on the job early today on the Osprey watch. Thank you SO MUCH for posting those pics.
It's hard to be definitive in reference to the eggs being laid already. Last year it seemed Tiny was hatched a week after the others. Guess we'll have to see what happens this year. If the fishing is excellent this year due to all the rain we've had, I wonder if we see a very rare sight....4 eggs instead of the usual 2-3???

Thanks Jude. Probably won't do a video; have a few tasks to take care of this morning. Yep, sure is early in CA. I will take a nap today, for sure.

8:28am I am seeing something in the nest. Not an egg. Looks more like something they picked up to decorate their nest with. It's brown and square in shape. Does anyone else see it? Right now it's in plain view towards the right side of the bowl. Hmmmmm.
Hey Peggy, last year you were telling us about Osprey bringing interesting "items" to their nests. Some very colorful. I just read about a man named John Steinbeck who found 3 shirts, 1 bath towel, 1 arrow and his rake in the nest in his garden. He has also seen these items in Osprey nests before: rope, broom, barrel, staves, hoops, fishnet, toy boat, old shoes, fishlines, straw hat, rag doll, bottles, tin cans, shells, sponges, etc.
8:36am Both birds flew into the nest together. They mated and are resting now.

Excellent Job of catching pics of Dad fishing, Cal! Amazing! I've never seen either of them fish below the nest before in the few years that I've been watching this nest. Great job!
Jude, I don't think these two bring too many "decorations" into the nest, mainly because it's pretty clean in that area. I wonder what they did bring in the nest? I looked through my magnifying glass but can't make it out. In the Woods Hole Osprey nest in MA last year, they brought a plastic bag with dog poop in it! Yuck! That's why I tried scattering pieces of flannel pics around, hoping they'd pick them up; but they didn't.

Good morning, Thanks for the early morning report and pictures Cal. It's 7:52 now and the nest is empty. ....oops, someone just flew in....oh dear, dad just flew in for a quickie then left again. Mom is now working the sticks. Both osprey look good to me. They are very active and energetic. It's a beautiful sunny morning at the nest.

Noon~Mom seems to be building and shaping that nest bowl.
A few minutes later:
She is now taking a break to preen herself and enjoy that awesome sunshine.
