waveThanks so much for your kind words Doug. I really appreciate itNodding It is very rewarding when I get a few pix of a bird I haven't seen before. I have been photographing birds for just over 2 years so I'm still quite a novice, but learning all the time. I am enjoying yours and Ed's photos and try to look on your threads as often as I can. Keep up the good workLeft thumb up

Here is a pic of Henry, the resident heron at Beacon Hill Park; a pic of a young heron snoozing in Henry's tree, and a ring-necked duck patiently waiting for a few bits to eat. Click them bigger.

I took these pix of a Red-breasted Nuthatch near the Anderson Hill eagle nest. I heard it pecking and thought it was a woodpecker; I looked up and it was practically right overhead. Click pix bigger.

Welcome glbc. Thanks for your info; I'll keep it in mindLeft thumb up If you are a wildlife enthusiast, please feel welcome to post your photos of the wildlife you see in the Southern Vancouver Island area here on this thread. I see you have found the other 2 threads in this forum as well; they are for photos of wildlife seen in the Central Vancouver Island area and the Pacific Northwest area and you are welcome to post photos on those threads as well.

The Abkhazi Gardens is a one-acre property in Victoria BC that was the home of Prince and Princess Abkhazi for over 40 years. They worked long and hard on the design of their garden. After their deaths the property was about to be purchased by developers and the garden destroyed to put up townhomes, but was rescued by the Land Conservancy of BC, who purchased it in 2000. The property is now maintained by volunteers and open to the public. Smile

wave Lesley, lovely pixLeft thumb up Nature Canada sent me an invitation to the gardens on Apr. 20th as they will be there in celebration of their 70th anniversary. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go; I'll be too busy getting ready for our vacationSad
