Good morning!

11:04 am

Well, here's A82 - but where is little brother?

I did look in earlier, and thought they were lying together on the nest - but now I'm not so sure. Off to check on the CHIL forum to see if they know where he is.

Ah-ha - he's off to the left. Couldn't get a s'cap, but he just poked his head into the picture to watch A82 flapping.

He's only 9-1/2 weeks old, which really is too early for fledging, so I'm glad to know that he's just doing a bit of branching at this point!

And while I'm thinking of it, A82 is 10 weeks old today - Happy Hatch Day, big sis! love

I was doing too many other things to see who got what, and the meal was over fairly quickly - or at least the adult left. Not sure if one of them is still working on whatever it was - A81 in front appears to be munching on something.

A27 arrives, I think with food, though I'm not sure.

Then A40 arrives at 2:10 - and while I won't guarantee that he brought food, it sure looks as if A82 is mantling something!

2:12 pm
Mom A27 decided things were under control and left. A82 mantled for a couple of minutes, and is now beginning to eat what she grabbed. Not sure, but A81 looks to be in submission.

It looks as if A81 has now checked Dad's feet to make sure there's no more food, and is now quietly moving closer to A82, in case she gets careless. Smile Dad has also left now.

Patience pays off as A81 manages a grab

It does look as if A82 is wondering where exactly her dinner has gone Titter

But it does look as if she had a nice long meal - and it looked as if A81 had one earlier, so he should also be doing fine even if there's not too much left at this point. Smile

It looks as if A81 is checking out the edges on the other side today!

He also came over and peered at the cam (missed that shot), and has been doing flying hops across the nest. He'll be 10 weeks old on Wednesday - and I'm not sure if he'll wait until he's 11 weeks old before he takes his first flight! love

A few pictures from
Wednesday, June 20, 2012

2:43 pm
Full house as both adults arrive on the nest. I'm not sure if both were feeding the chicks - I think they were, but it was hard to see what Dad A40 was doing in the back.

I'm not sure if this counts as branching - but A81 looked quite proud of himself as A82 dashed over to see what was going on. A81 was 10 weeks old on Wednesday, so perhaps was celebrating the fact that he's now officially old enough to fledge (and while I think he's closer than the Delta 2 chick Linux who's the same age, I think he has a few more days at least before trying for his first flight - but that's just my guess; he's the only one who knows for sure!)

A82 says she can perch too - though she prefers the edge of the nest, thank you very much!

I'm sorry I didn't find more time to post, but everything seemed to be going smoothly, with lots of flapping around.
