If you do.... and would like to share it with us please send it to my email no later than noon Sunday - August 26, 2012

Pick your best screen capture as my email only has so much room.

When submitting your screen capture please include the following information:

Your screen name and contact information
In the subject line of your email state that its for the "HWF Screen Capture Contest" so that your email does not go into the junk or spam folder
When your capture was taken and at what Hancock Wildlife Nest (although we will likely be able to tell please include this information)
Images must be JPEG saved and no larger than 500 pixels
The screen capture must be "raw" without any enhancements; text or animations
The nest must be part of the capture

We would also like some screen captures that include some of our famous HWF kids or bobbleheads with or without the parents in the screen capture
and preferably taken when the chicks were just a few days old.

This Screen Capture Contest is for screen captures only no professional pictures this time around.

Although we would love to promote everyone's favorite screen capture ... as they are all "keepers" we can only select a few from this contest, which will then be used in an upcoming promotion so good luck to you all.

We will keep all screen captures on file for future HWF promotions so you never know when your favorite capture may be used in the future.

Thanks for participating and we look forward to seeing your beautiful screen captures!

Keeping all good friends battling cancer or disease in our thoughts and prayers oxo

IWS Santa Cruz Island Update...

http://z7.invisionfree.com/CHIL_EagleCA ... topic=7634

Helen wrote...

Wednesday
Here’s where the week got interesting. I went out to the Sauces area to check on A-81. I had gone out on Monday and gotten a signal that seemed to be moving around, but no visual. I’m not happy unless I get a visual

When I got out to Sauces, I picked up his signal weak and in the same exact area. This bothered me, so I hiked in closer and closer, down a slot canyon, across gullies, through scrubby-shrubby dense vegetation, and up a hill.

The more I hiked, the more I felt like I should be able to see him or even that he should fly away. Finally, I could tell from his signal that I was right near him. There were erosion cracks in the surface all over the hillside I was hiking on. I walked to the closest one and looked down… and there was A-81 looking up at me.

To make a long story short, I procured a kennel, a ladder, some rope, and some exceptional assistants and we got him out of the hole. We don’t know how he ended up at the bottom, but because the gully was so narrow, he couldn’t stretch his wings to fly back out (he could only stretch his wings if his face was aimed right at the wall)

A-81 didn’t know we were there to rescue him, he tried to look very big and dangerous to scare us away.

There are pictures, video's and more information in the update (link above).

We are so grateful that Maria persevered and found our precious boy and saved him. Smile

Here are two scaps that I took from the IWS Crew's video of Helen rescuing A81 out of the hole...

WOW! Thank you for bringing this report here, Judy. Left thumb up I just went over and watched the video - and I can't imaging trying to maneuver in that tiny canyon even without a huge bird of prey in my arms. WOW! So glad to see that A-81 seems to be doing just fine - and interesting that he's hanging out with one of the chicks from Santa Rosa. Smile
