Right after they finished their meal, junior turned around in the nest to look at all his/her onlookers. Then I had to hold my breath!

It's not going to be long before this youngster is up and flying with the flapping wing hops he/she was doing yesterday! It wasn't that long ago that those wings were covered in little dark colored flecks. Now I see feathers. We kinda all snickered at the fact that Ma looked like she was ducking out of the way of those huge wings! Confusion circle arrived on the scene, so we visited for a bit, but it was getting dark. I won't be leaving it so long before the next visit. This youngster isn't going to be long before he/she leaves this nest.

Hello Everyone,

We stopped by Rocky Point both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend, and the eagles were nowhere to be found. The Ma Osprey and her youngster were both in the area, however. I've noticed the last couple of visits, that she is leaving the nest more and more, and for longer periods at a time. She isn't far away though, watching from one of the pilons just across from the one the nest is on.
Pa brought in a flounder just before we left last night. Not only does Ma chatter when he arrives on the scene, but Junior has started to do so as well. He/she is just a little quieter than Ma.
I do have pictures, but my computer quit working, and the one I'm borrowing doesn't have the capability to process RAW files. Hopefully I can get my computer fixed soon!

wave Good morning! And wow! Wooh What wonderful visual coverage with comentary to return to after time away last month. Thank you for the catch up Shrub, Confusion Circle and Larry! It's wonderful to be able to follow progress of this nest without feeling I've missed anything. You can see ET maturing with every visit! Clapping Nice to know Ma and Pa are still in the area as well. What a marvellous spot to view wildlife with your osprey nest, eagles and bears! I wonder if the goldfish pond owner has any idea that his goldfish are famous? It Wasn't Me I'm thinking we should establish and stock goldfish ponds near all the cam nests with a need for suplemental food supply! Laugh
I agree Shrub, ET looks like s/he won't be around for much longer.
About the nest. I can't believe how bereft of sticks osprey nests appear despite the ongoing deliveries. Do most of them end up falling off? Hard to tell there with water below I guess, but any idea? The painstaking time eagles take to determine just the right spot for placement certainly seems to pay off in the end. Clapping

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back Stim! Glad you were able to catch up on this form! I think the goldfish pond owner does know about his pond, because there was a lady visiting this nest a couple weeks ago, when Pa arrived with a gold fish. She told me that her brother had a pond in the area, and that some of his fish had been disappearing rapidly lately. I told her she could let him know that they were going to a good cause. As far as the continuous arrival of sticks, I think it is to keep the nest from totally breaking down. I think it could be just the design of the post the nest is on. When looking at the nest itself, it has a heavy duty mesh type material under it, and a wooden box like structure built holding the sticks. I guess when the sticks and branches are added, they do slip into the water when the get so high. I'm just assuming. There were two chicks in the nest near the very begining, but the loss of one, leaves me to think that maybe it fell out of the nest. Ma has been pretty consistant with bringing sticks and branches in, I'm assuming to keep ET in the nest, at least until he/she is ready to fly!

We made it down to Rocky Point on Friday afternoon, and at first we didn't see the Eagles in the area, so we made a quick visit to the Osprey nest. We past a gentleman leaving, and he told us that Pa had brought in three fish while he was there.
As we arrived on the scene, Ma was just leaving the nest,

She returned a very short time later with some seaweed. I guess for hydration being that it was so hot out.

Shortly there after, Pa arrived with a flounder!

That was one of two fish he flew in with in the short time we were there.
We were just talking about having some fish and chips from Pajos, when I heard the call of a familiar voice.

I'm alway excited to see these two, it's just a bonus to have them together on a branch! I can't wait for the nesting season to start for these two.

Fabulous pics of Ma and Pa Shrub! Nice to see they are still around! I went out there one day last week for a walk and there was no sign of eagles but I did enjoy watching the Osprey after my walk!

I adopted the Delta2 nest!

Hello Everyone,
We made a stop by Rocky Point last night. When we got to the end of the pier we had a lovely surprise. Really good to see you again Darlene!! Hope to see you again. Give us a call when you're in the area, anytime.

Ma was out on the usual perch, watching baby from afar. But when she arrived at the nest, doing her call, we predicted Pa wasn't far off. Our assumption was right. He arrived on the scene with a flounder. Ma fed just a couple of pieces to junior and then returned to her perch out across the water. She's definately trying encouraging this youngster to self feed.
After having a few morsels of food, the wingersizes started, Click on image to download
With one really big hop!

Then back down into the nest for a rest Click on image to download
I held my breath with that big hop. Any time now this little one will be flying.

Hi everybody,
I'm new to this forum. Have been following these birds since I first heard of them back in early May of this year. The young bird is growing fast. I am going to try to post some shots I have taken in the last couple of days.

Pa bringing in a meal
Ma and Pa flying out around the inlet.
See you later!
